Handmade + Heartfelt from California

San Diego, California 199 Sales On Etsy since 2007

Announcement   American made Craft jewelry. Strong, clean designs. Custom work always welcome. Handmade silver, gold, gemstone rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings and objet d'art. What sets my work apart is my attention to detail and finishing. Artisan Designer Jewelry. See my newest work on https://www.facebook.com/Khmetalwork

Solder blobs are filed away, edges are smoothed over, joins are perfectly matched, even the inside of the bezels are polished before I set the stones. I often make my own tools for specific purposes, punches that don't scratch stones, altering commercial tools, cutting my own press dies. I work hard to keep my earrings light without being flimsy, rings feel good on your finger, necklaces don't flip over, I work hard to make jewelry that will last for years and years. I use eco friendly 925 sterling silver, and 18k or 22k gold.

I love sapphires of all colors, pearls, colorful gemstones and found objects; love them all. Everything in the shop is READY TO SHIP, unless otherwise noted.

My artisan jewelry is not dainty; the rings substantial, the chains are sensuous and wonderful and, handmade metal beads are fantastic. I purposefully use my tools to create all my pieces, always mindful that someone will wear this piece and it must be made with my best efforts.

I make most of the metal stock I use in my jewelry, this means I alloy the gold and silver and roll out the metal using a mill to the desired thickness for sheet or bezels. Why? I do this for just one reason, I like to do it. Not because it's better or "more handmade", I just like to do it. The patterns and textures are all manually added to the metal (I love my tools!). Again, I could very easily buy textured metal, there are many great textures from which to choose, but I love the work - even when it doesn't turn out perfectly, I love the work.

The colored stones I use are the natural color (unless noted), no dyes, no irradiation. I wouldn't sell anything I wouldn't proudly wear myself.

Totally perfect!! I will be wearing my brooch everywhere and with everything. It is the perfect size. Shipping was very quick and I thank you for the cloth. That was an added smile when I opened the package. Love the packaging by the way, very elegant. : ) Thank you!

About

Must have done something right in a previous life

My jewelry story begins in Los Angeles and a decision to simplify my family's life. We left LA, left two paychecks, left stress, left miserable kids - we found a small coastal town north of San Diego, we found time, we found dinner conversation, we found I'm really not suited to PTA and play dates. It's hard to go from light speed to walking without some regrets, then I found the Crafts Center at University of California, San Diego. Craftsman Nirvana. From the moment I lit a torch the first time, I was all in.

After years spent in university classrooms and behind a desk, I have found something that really feels right for me - working with my hands. I am not an artist or an artisan, I am an American Craftsperson.

I want your purchase to arrive safely and in the same condition it left my studio - depending on the piece: I will box, tape, bubble wrap, and put in second box. I will ship your package within stated time frame in the item listing and on your receipt. If there is a delay for any reason other, I will let you know via Etsy and/or email.

Most items ship USPS Priority flat rate mail. Domestically, at my discretion, some items may ship FedEx and require a signature, I'll will let you know if this is the case.

I will do my part to ensure your package arrives to you - please confirm that your address is correct to avoid delays and possible lost packages. If your Paypal and Etsy address do not match, I will contact you to fix your address, and will NOT ship until the addresses match. Please check your address is current with Etsy AND Paypal, I am not responsible for tracked packages shipped to an old address.

You must contact me before shipping item back. Items are expected to be packed as carefully coming back and they were going out e.g, boxed, bubble wrapped and then put into a second box.
