About

Hello and welcome to Kiln Fired Art on Etsy

My name is Jill, I have a passion for painting and making things. I paint on porcelain, as well as watercolours, also I fuse glass, hand build ceramics, make ceramic beads and jewellery using glass, ceramics and metal.

It feels like I have been designing and making my whole life, I can't remember a time when I wasn't making something. My journey is one of evolution; curiosity has taken me down various routes, so now I work in several disciplines so you will find a diverse range of items in my shop.

I loved drawing and painting as a child, and I followed my mother's footsteps into textiles. I studied for a C&G Diploma in Creative Studies and was awarded a bronze medal for excellence which was presented to mr by Prince Phillip at Buckingham Palace so that was a day to remember.
A chance meeting with a friend took me down a new path, china painting. I loved it, and as one thing leads to another, my work has progressed to other media. I love learning new techniques and so I'm always adding something new to my range.
I love making, and the thrill of opening the kiln each morning is like Christmas every day.
I have had an exciting few years moving around the UK, taking the opportunity to sell my work at craft fairs, art exhibitions, galleries etc; I started my Etsy shop as a way of selling online. Now that I'm home for good I have found my work taking over the whole house so I had a studio built in my garden, where I'm constantly inspired by the wildlife there..

I have a blog where I write about my journey, new work and crafty friends. Also a couple of websites.

I love my job and you can be reassured that every piece for sale in my shop is handmade or hand painted by me, with attention to quality and detail , and you will find satisfaction in knowing you have bought something quite special.
