I'm glad to have you visit my Etsy shop and I hope you enjoy what you see! Everything is HANDMADE BY ME in my studio at my home in Northeast Indiana. I have been a full-time clay artist since graduating from college in 1999.
I describe my work as being a stylized interpretation of people, both men and women. My recent work came about from a themed exhibit at the co-op gallery, Orchard Gallery, where I am a member, called “Art Becomes Her”. I began by making tall, slender women with stamped bodices using symbolism to make each one different. As I continue with this theme I find myself experimenting with facial expression and gesture to help define the people giving each one a unique personality.
My pieces are made using a white clay body and each one is fired two times in an electric kiln.
I am excited to be moving in this new direction and I look forward to see where these new figures will lead me.
You can also find my work at the Orchard Gallery in Fort Wayne, IN where I have been a member since 2000. Check out our web site at: www.theorchardgallery.com.

5 out of 5 starsThis "pocket lady" has a new home on my living room wall. She is there, because she is truly a work of art and should be in a place where she can be enjoyed and admired. I love her!

Stylized Interpretations of People, both men and women.
I went back to school after my four children started school. Not sure of what I wanted to do with the rest of my life, I attended Indiana Purdue Fort Wayne and fell in love with ceramics. I graduated in 1999 with a BFA (Bachlor of Fine Arts).
That same year I began doing art fairs and have been happy ever since. I joined the Orchard Gallery, a cooperative gallery, near my home in 2000. We have themed shows every March which helps me to keep doing new and different work all the time. This years theme is "The Sky Above and The Earth Below". I'm still thinking about what to do for it....maybe some animals?
Today I live with my husband just outside of Ft Wayne. I work in my studio everyday and still can't wait to get going! My studio is in an out building just behind our house. My husband uses half of the building for his wood shop and I have the other half for my clay studio. The arrangement works greats or us both since we love to be busy.
I do a number of art fairs every year, usually in the mid west, OH, MI and IN. My schedule can be found on the Orchard Gallery web site at http://www.theorchardgallery.com.
