About

Frolicking through the world makes for great inspiration

Kim has been making and designing scarves since she first met a new high school art teacher over 12 years ago. Her name was Mrs. Killmore, she was new to the school district and arrived full of exciting new ideas and techniques. One day is class she arrived with blank silk scarves and a bunch of dyes. I have been hooked on dying silk ever since that day. I started to sell scarves at local farmers markets during the summer months which helped to fund my passion. My artistic passions only became louder and paved a clear path to applying to art schools across the country. In 2007 I graduated from Maryland institute College of Art with a BFA in graphic design. All through college I still created silk scarves and incorporated inspirations form classes into my designs.

Since then, I have still been creating scarves and drawing from many sources of inspiration. I mainly concentrate on the natural world, but also enjoy looking back at all my art materials from college. I still occasionally join craft and artist markets so I can show people my work and hope they become inspired in their own way. I often have live demonstrations and like to teach others my techniques which include serti and shibori.
