Frequently asked questions
What couriers do you use?

We ship via Royal Mail and Hermes.

When do you ship my order?

We always ship international orders on Saturday mornings UK time, UK orders get shipped during the week as well.

Can I track my order?

A tracking number or insurance is NOT included with the default shipping option. Please contact Maiti PRIOR to making your purchase so that we can upgrade your shipping option.

My order hasn't arrived. What can I do?

If your your order hasn't arrived after two weeks (four weeks for international shipments) please contact Maiti. We will find a solution.

The item does not look new / has a flaw. What can I do?

All of the items are vintage. Even though we give our best to check each item, we're not 100% immune to overlooking flaws, unfortunately. If you feel that there is a discrepancy between the description and the item you bought, please contact Maiti and we will work something out. You can return any item that you don't like.

The item I bought does not smell good. What's up with that?

Since the items are vintage and oftentimes have been in storage for a long time, they might have a more or less noticeable musty or mothball-like chemical smell. Please be aware of this. Airing out a garment might get rid of the smell.

I want to clean the kimono garment that I bought. How can I do this?

Japanese kimono items are - for the most part - not meant to be washed. Especially the silk items will suffer if you put water to them. Please only use a dry-cleaning service that you trust and consult them before handing garments in. Since cleaning kimono garments is a science in itself Maiti unfortunately cannot give advice on how to handle this.

How do you measure the garments that you sell? How can I tell the size?

All measurements are flat measurements. The width is measured from below-the-armhole to below-the-armhole and can be doubled to get the circumference. Please compare these measurements to a clothing item that you already own to find out whether it will fit you.
