A few months ago, my husband accidently broke my favorite tea mug -- one that my yoga teacher made for me several years ago. I've been searching for a replacement ever since. I finally found it. This mug fits perfectly in my hands, is nice to look at, and is well mad and keeps my tea warm. I love this mug!! Thank you so much! :-)

About

A shop full of hand thrown porcelain goodness

I graduated with a BFA from the University of Connecticut and soon began a career in graphic design. After a few years of working in my field, I realized that my need to create could not be fulfilled by sitting in front of a computer. A friend suggested that I take a pottery class and after a little convincing, I agreed.

It only took one class to get me hooked. I started having dreams about throwing and not long after, I left the graphic design world and devoted all of my time and attention to ceramics. Initially, that meant washing the studio floor at Creative Arts Workshop in exchange for extra studio time. The following year, I moved to Brooklyn where I worked for and alongside several well established potters and ceramic artists. In May 2004, I set up my own studio and began designing and producing a body of work.

Working exclusively in porcelain, all of my vessels begin on the wheel. My work is defined by my modern aesthetic and I am most interested in creating a strong form through balance and proportion. I find inspiration in the gentle curves of the human body and nature as well as the clean lines of modern industrial design. Each have led me to experiment with the alteration and reconstruction of traditional shapes. By manipulating these shapes, I am able to create new forms which enhance the design and often times, the function of a piece.

I strive to create well crafted, heirloom quality pieces and it is important to me that my vessels are used and enjoyed. I believe that people should surround themselves with their own unique collections of things that they love. I make each piece with that in mind and hope that my vessels will add beauty and visual interest to their new home and engage those around them.

I am currently working out of my studio in the beautiful Bronx in New York city.

To me, handmade means well-made, heirloom quality pieces. My work is defined by my clean, modern aesthetic and is rooted in my belief that people should surround themselves with their own unique collections of things that they love.

Shop policies

Thanks so much for visiting my shop! All of my pieces are made using a smooth, warm white porcelain. I make each piece myself, one-at-a-time, by hand in my Sarasota, Florida studio. I do not use any molds, casts or templates. This ensures that each piece is truly unique.

Because each piece is handmade individually, requiring anywhere from 6-14 different steps from start to finish, I do not offer discounts on bulk retail orders.

GIFTS
I am happy to ship directly to gift recipients and include a complimentary gift note. Please convey your requests in the note to seller box during the Etsy checkout process. Unfortunately, I am unable to gift wrap at this time.

I love hearing from my customers, so feel free to contact me with any questions.

Payment
I'm currently accepting payments through PayPal and credit cards and Etsy gift cards through Etsy direct checkout. Please contact me if you would like to discuss other payment methods.

I ship to the address listed on the Etsy receipt. Please be sure it is correct and contact me immediately if there is an error/problem. I do not issue refunds for items that get returned to me due to shipping errors.

Items shipped to a Florida address will be subject to sales tax.
Shipping
Items that ship within the U.S. will be sent via USPS Express Mail, USPS Priority mail, USPS Ground or USPS First Class Mail (size and weight restrictions apply). You will be able to choose a shipping option during checkout.

In-stock items typically ship within 1-3 business days (I do not ship on Saturday or Sunday). Choosing USPS Express Mail does not mean that your items will arrive within one business day, rather that the package will be in transit for one day. If you need something shipped ASAP, please contact me before making your purchase. I will do my best to accommodate your request, but being a small business, that is not always possible. Additional fees also apply.

Insurance in the amount of $100 and tracking is included with USPS Express and USPS Priority Mail. USPS First Class Mail and Parcel Select Ground services DO NOT include any insurance. If you would like to add additional insurance or purchase insurance for a service that does not automatically provide it, please contact me before making your purchase. Additional fees will apply.

I double wrap all of my pieces in large, heavy duty bubble wrap and make sure that items fit snugly within the box. I am not responsible for breakage, theft or loss of uninsured or underinsured packages.

If for any reason a package is returned to me by the post office (because the buyer provides incorrect shipping info or if a package goes unclaimed, etc.) the buyer will be responsible for additional shipping costs to have the package reshipped. Refunds will not be given on returned packages.

International Shipping
In an effort to keep shipping costs as economical as possible, packages weighing under 4 lbs. will ship via USPS First Class International Mail. This service does not include insurance and tracking is not always accurate. Insurance can be added for an additional fee. I am not responsible for breakage, theft or loss during shipping.

Buyers are responsible for any import taxes or fees on international purchases. Items returned to me due to non-payment of import fees or because the address provided was incorrect will not be refunded. Customs forms are pre-filled by Etsy and I am unable to change purchase price or mark a shipment as a gift in order to avoid import taxes.
Refunds and Exchanges
I do my best to accurately describe and photograph my listed items. Please read the descriptions carefully. A return request must be made within 5 days of receiving an item and the item must be shipped back to me within 7 days. Items must arrive back to me in the same condition in which it was sent or the refund will not be granted. Please contact me with any tracking info so I will know when to expect it. The cost of the item minus shipping charges and a 15% restocking fee will be refunded to the purchaser's original form of payment within 7 days of receiving the item. Shipping charges are non-refundable and return shipment is the responsibility of the buyer.

Sale items, seconds, samples and special orders (including deposits) are non-refundable.

Please repack your item carefully for shipping. I strongly advise purchasing insurance and tracking. If an item arrives back damaged due to insufficient packaging or if a package is lost or stolen, a refund will not be given.

If for any reason a package is returned to me by the post office (because the buyer provides incorrect shipping info, if a package goes unclaimed, etc.) the buyer will be responsible for additional shipping costs to have the package reshipped. Refunds/returns will not be given on any returned packages.
Additional policies and FAQs
CUSTOM ORDERS
I am happy to discuss custom orders based on my current product lines- please contact me with your requests. Special orders will include a 15% or more up-charge, depending on the design. Custom and made-to-order items cannot be returned or exchanged.

Custom and made-to-order items will be subject to a 50% non-refundable deposit which needs to be paid prior to the start of the project. The remaining 50% + s/h will be due upon completion of the order and must be paid before the item(s) ship. Custom and made-to-order items cannot be changed/cancelled once the deposit has been received.

WHOLESALE
Wholesale inquiries should be directed to studio [!at] kimwestad.com

RESERVED ITEMS
I will place items on reserve for a period of 5 days. If that item is not purchased within that 5 day period, the reserve will be removed and the items will be made available to the public.
