The Story Behind Kitchen Dog…

It all started with a dog. In April 2008, I adopted a Chow/Cattle Dog mix and named her Nikita. She fit right into the family and quickly earned herself the nickname “Kitchen Dog” due to her love for food and supervising all cooking and kitchen activity.

Unfortunately, Nikita was suffering with a few health issues. She had a sensitive stomach and a wheezy cough that would cause her to gag. After many vet trips and intensive tests, a restricted diet helped her stomach, but the wheezing was still a problem. One veterinarian suggested raising her food dish off the floor, since her cough may have been caused by an enlarged esophagus. An elevated bowl lets gravity help with swallowing.
With the recession and vet bills my budget was limited. To save money, I devised a
system to mount the bowls to his wall using bowls he already had and some 1 x 12 wood in the garage. My idea went from concept to reality the next day when I mounted the bowl holder to my wall. While Nikita’s cough was eventually diagnosed as bronchitis, I kept the mounted feeders because of the benefits of elevated feeding and how they made his life much easier. No more scattered kibble or spilled water bowls!

Many friends and family complimented my mounted dish holder over the years therefore I
decided to create a more affordable, easy-to-use design and that’s when Kitchen Dog was born. Nikita passed away just before her 7th birthday. Kitchen Dog is her legacy, designed to keep all fur babies happy and healthy!

Frequently asked questions
How low can the dishes be mounted to the wall?

Our 2 cup dishes can be mounted within 2-1/2” from the floor. This assumes that there is no floor molding and that both bowls are 2 cups. Our website has more detailed information under the assembly instructions.

Does this really help reduce pain associated with eating off the floor?

Yes, by reducing the distance your fur baby has to stretch, it will reduce their pain. This was pointed out by veterinarians.

What if I am not satisfied with the product?

If you are not satisfied with our product, we will attempt to correct the problem. If we are unable to correct the problem, we will refund the purchase price of the product once when we receive it back.

Are these dishes good for cats?

Kitchen Dog 2 cup dishes are perfect for cats. The shallow depth and wide mouth eliminates broken whiskers from feeding.
Kitchen Dog sets can be used for snakes, turtles, frogs lizards, rats, rabbits, chinchillas, birds and even couch potatoes!
