Welcome to our Policy Page! :-) Here you will find outlined some of our basic guidelines for how we do things at KittyHawke.

Generally speaking, we are a friendly and fairly informal bunch. We've all been crafting for a number of years in various combinations, media, and formats, and now have found our online home here on Etsy.

Among our posted works you will find a wide range of media and styles – everything from Celtic-inspired spiral jewelry to traditional block pieced quilts.

We believe in honoring nature and the Earth, and in respecting all the creatures who live here. We treat people as we expect to be treated – honestly and fairly. In that vein, if you ever have a question or a problem, please don't hesitate to contact us! :-) It's very important to us for our customers to be happy.

Accepted payment methods

Returns and exchanges
Our pieces are our crafted children – we want to see them in good & loving homes. If you are not satisfied with your item for any reason, please contact us and we will do what we can to make it right for you, whether that is an exchange, a full or partial refund, or simply advice on how to make the piece blend with you more harmoniously.

The timeframe to return an item is open – the only requirements (with a few exceptions noted below) are that the item still be in saleable condition (unless the problem was a manufacturing issue, in which case it is automatically returnable), and that we still sell similar items in our shop.

Exceptions to the return policy -
non-metallic hair adornments are not returnable;
silk ear-surrounds are not returnable;
earrings will incur a 10% hook replacement charge for a maximum of $5;
jewelry/crafts for unusual purposes or places will be judged on a case by case basis, but are generally not returnable.

Custom orders ARE returnable. If you are not satisfied with your custom order, you may return it for either exchange or refund. However, the original design fee will still be charged to you, so your refund or exchange credit will be lowered by that amount.

Shipping for returns or exchanges will generally be paid by you, unless the problem was a result of our error, in which case we will pay for the shipping.

Payment is requested to be made within seven days. However, we understand that sometimes Life Happens. If you cannot make payment within that time, just let us know and we will work something out.

For buyers from the U.S.A., we accept checks & money orders (although they will need to clear our bank before we will ship your item, so be aware this will take more time than paying by other methods).

We encourage the use of PayPal for all our customers, and it is the only method of payment we accept for buyers from countries other than the U.S.A.

Should you ever need to cancel an order, simply let us know. If your order hasn't yet gone out, your money will be refunded promptly. If it has, we will need to wait for the return of the package before a refund (less shipping) is issued. Also, for the cancellation of custom work, the design fee will still be charged.
Shippers: USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL

The quality of service from the various shippers seems to vary widely from town to town. So if you know that a particular shipper is the best in your area, then that's the one that we will use. If you have no preference, we will select the most economical way to ship your package.

We do ship internationally as well – in-listing prices coming soon! Meanwhile, please convo or email for pricing. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Amounts greatly above actual shipping costs will be refunded. (We encourage multiple purchases! :-D)

Items can be gathered together between shipping days to save money on shipping. If you want to add to your box over a longer period, just convo or e-mail us, and we can hold the box until you're ready (no longer than three weeks, please).

Expedited shipping is available for those wishing to pay for it.

We require insurance on orders of $100 or more.

Ground shipping is free within the continental United States for orders of $100 or more. For packages going outside the continental United States, shipping will be discounted to the same amount.

All customs & duties are the responsibility of the buyer. Know your local laws before you buy! And please be aware... apparently a lot of countries have decided to completely forbid the import of jewelry, regardless of the components of said jewelry.

For international orders, we will do a preliminary scan of the forbidden goods list, and if your item is on that list, we will respectfully cancel the sale and refund any monies paid.

Currently we ship on Tuesday and Friday. Local buyers may contact us to arrange for a pickup in lieu of shipping. Please note that this is offered as a courtesy, and is dependent on our schedules.

We believe strongly in the stewardship of our Earth. To that end, we reuse and recycle our packaging whenever possible, and encourage others to do the same. While we do not permit this to interfere with the sturdiness of our packaging, or the ability of our products to arrive safely at their new homes, if you would prefer all-new shipping materials, we will do our best to accommodate you. However, please be aware that we will be passing along the costs of such materials.

Custom orders generally ship in 2-6 weeks, although this will vary longer or shorter with the complexity of the item and our order schedule. Some large projects will take longer than 6 weeks. Please allow yourself (and us!) plenty of lead time for custom work.

We offer some gift packaging and will ship to a recipient's address as needed.

Custom Orders, Wholesale, & Bulk Purchases
We encourage custom orders. So if a description contains a color or size choice, or the ones listed aren't the right ones for you, please don't hesitate to contact us via convo, e-mail, or Alchemy page.

The same goes for wholesale and bulk purchases - contact us and we will be happy to work something out. At this time, however, we are doing consignment of our items on an extremely limited and totally case-by-case basis. Again, contact us! :-)

Do we offer discounts? Loaded question, that, and rife with possibilities. The simple answer is... yes and no.

We strive for fair pricing in our work, taking into account the time, talent, and components that go into each piece. So, on individual pieces, no.

However, we do have ways that you can earn discounts on your purchases. Buy sets. Buy multiple items. Be a return customer. Refer people. All of these will earn you discounts of varying amounts. We believe in rewarding our good customers.

Gift Services
Gift pouches and gift boxes are available, as are custom gift tags. The prices for these services vary depending on the piece and what is requested. So again, contact us! :-)

We will ship to third party addresses – just let us know where you would like your items sent and we will be happy to accommodate you.

Allergen Alerts
We are pet-friendly households – cats & dogs. Incense is burnt in our homes from time to time, essential oils & perfumes used, and the housies of one of our people are still working on quitting smoking. We are also known to craft out-of-doors in nice weather. (My husband and I do some of our best crafting outside.)

If any of this presents a problem for you, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
