I have been working with glass and creating art since 2002. When I first started out I struggled to afford all the items I wanted! All the colors and all the options! It can be a overwhelming. I wanted to provide a way for people to get a nice collection of items to try and play with to find their own style! I love experimenting. I have found that this is the best way for me to find my style and produce items I love and to keep learning and growing trying new techniques. www.warmglass.org under "bulletins" is one of the best sites there is for questions and problems. Some amazing and very experienced glass people are on there answering simple to difficult questions. Chances are someone has already seen it or done it and the answer is there!
In the glass kit I have below you will find a nice collection of colored glass that fires well together or just a nice collection of colors that you can experiment with! I include some fiber paper to fire your glass onto so it doesn't stick to the bottom of the kiln. You will also find pendant findings, dremel the back of your piece where you want the finding to attach clean it well with acetone and you can use e6000 or Hextal to apoxy or glue them onto the back.
Mica is fun and a little goes a long way! Brush it on and fire, it gives your glass a lighter iridized look. The gold flakes and mica can be fired between two pieces, they can be fun for a different look. Use some clear powder on the bottom piece around the flakes to reduce bubbles and hold longer at the annealing point!. The small cut up pieces which people call scrap will be complimentary in color and I try and give you different glass than the sheet glass. Some opaques and some transparents, I love when these two glasses are combined! All this glass can be used for mosaic or stained glass of course.
I can always change the colors if you have something you are looking for. I do have most bullseye colors in the 90 COE. I don't have as much selection in the 96 but you never know!
Thanks for visiting and you can always check out Kiwi Studios on Facebook or Kiwistudioschris on Instagram for my current work!

About

Color, color and more color

In 2002 I fell in love with all the color and purity of glass and the minute I saw the kiln and kiln formed glass and hot glass which shortly became an addiction.
I then bought a 28" kiln (yes, without research or thinking it through!) had it delivered to our garage, my poor husband was quite surprised! The obsession with glass began...
I created my own line of jewelry and housewares and sold them at the New York Gift Show for several years. My influences are and always have been all things vintage with special interest in the 60's and 70's style of home decor, glass, clothing, jewelry. I even wore my great grandmothers green cashmere dress for my senior photo in High School... Not the most popular of kids!
These days I am more focused on large sculptural work and creating "one offs" but still have the passion to create everyday!

Hello! Started my business in 2002... Got my own kiln and started making more stuff than I could keep in my little shop. I feel a true peace and joy when I walk through my studio door. I love glass and all the versatility it brings, so many things you can do with it! Glass is over 6000 years old and continues to grow and become more interesting with each artist that enters the field and contributes to it. Love the color and feel, cold yet warm and vibrant at the same time!
Thanks for the support of me and Kiwi Studios!
