I made my first frame for a friend's baby shower. I used her wedding song because parts of it pertained perfectly to the daughter she'd soon meet. She really, REALLY loved it. After making a few more frames for friends and getting some more ideas, the opportunity arose for me to stay home with my yellow-haired babies and make this a full time hobby. After 11 years in publishing, including 3+ hours each day on a commuter train, I'm now able to get my kids on and off the bus every day and spend time in their classrooms as their class mom, while helping to support my family by making frames.

I find that the people who buy my frames for themselves or give my frames as gifts understand how the words of a song or poem can touch people. Each event of our lives and the corresponding memory can be related to a song, a poem or a quote because they're the words that maybe you couldn't have come up with on your own but say exactly what you've felt. This is a nice opportunity to find those words and put them with the photos from those moments.

My best experiences in operating this shop are when someone sends me a picture of their finished frame with the photo that it was intended for and tells me that it's perfect and it made someone cry. It's validation that what I do in my basement office, in my pajamas most days, to the sounds of Bon Iver and Ryan Adams, has made a small connection somewhere out there in the world. And the daily commute's a hell of a lot better.
