A Simple Kind of Shop

I'm a 30-something Mama of of two small boys, and am also caring for my teenage niece who has brought a lot of joy into all of our lives in the past few months that she has been with us.

Along with my crafty nature, I'm a steward to the environment, which I try to reflect in the materials I select for my cozies, as well as the materials used to ship them to you, the customer!

KnitStorm was born of my love and obsession with all things fiber artsy. My cozy designs are all original concepts that I've dreamed up in a cutesy-kitsch style, which are made to reflect the simple comforts we enjoy in life.

Welcome to the KnitStorm that is my shop! KnitStorm is devoted to making quality knit and crocheted pieces that warm the heart (and the cup). All creations are handmade by me, Kate, and all are original ideas and designs that I conceptualized and brought to life! KnitStorm is devoted to using eco-friendly materials as often as possible, and is always working towards further greening my work. Thank you so much for stopping by!

Returns and exchanges
I will accept returns for a number of valid reasons as long as the item is unused and has not been washed.

Made to order items and gift certificate purchases are final. However, if there is any problem with your order, I will do everything I can to correct it.

If you would like to return your purchase, contact me via an Etsy Conversation, stating the reason for wanting to return the item within 60 days from the date of your purchase.

The buyer will be required to send the item back to me if I accept the return. Upon receiving the returned item, I will issue a refund to the buyer's Paypal account, or via money order (whichever you paid with), minus the initial shipping cost.

In regards to damaged items, as stated in the shipping policies section, I cannot be held responsible for items lost or damaged in transit to you, which is why I recommend that you ask for shipping insurance on your item if you want to be sure you can be compensated if it is damaged in transit in any way.
I accept Paypal payments online, as well as money orders by mail.
If you'd like insurance and/or delivery confirmation on any items you want to purchase from me, send me a conversation via Etsy requesting these additions to your shipping cost so that I can adjust that cost before you check out. Insurance on domestically shipped items covers the full cost of the item if lost or damaged.

I recommend insurance for larger purchases or non-domestic buyers, as I cannot be held responsible for lost or stolen items once I've put them in the care of the Postal Service.

For any non-domestic shipping destinations that would like insurance added, please be aware that the U.S. post office will only refund a portion of what was paid if your item(s) are lost or damaged.

I generally ship all of my items via USPS first class mail unless you request a faster method. If you'd like any item to be sent by some other method than what is specified above, please send me a conversation and specify how you would like it sent prior to making the purchase, so that I can adjust the shipping cost for you in the listing.

Customs & Duties for International Buyers: Please note that buyers are responsible for any and all duties and customs charges that may be incurred.

Packaging: I generally use biodegradable mailers (EcoEnclose), if I'm not reusing packaging to ship you your purchase.

Package Not Received: If you do not receive your item(s) within 1-2 weeks from the date it was marked shipped (for U.S. purchases) or within a month of the date it was marked as shipped if you had it shipped outside of the U.S., please contact me for assistance. If you wait more than 3 months to contact me from the time frames listed above, I will not be able to properly assist you in acquiring your package.
Additional policies and FAQs
Sales Tax for NJ Buyers: 7% sales tax will be added to the cost of the item plus shipping if you're buying it in New Jersey. This is automatically done via PayPal. If you are from New Jersey and choose to pay via Money Order, please wait for an updated total which will include sales tax, before sending payment.

Non-Payment on Orders:
If you order an item from me and do not make payment within 3 days time (2 weeks if a money order is the method of payment), with no explanation as to why payment has not been made, and no show of intention to pay, I will automatically cancel the order. I always make multiple attempts to contact the buyer who has not paid before the order is canceled for non-payment.

I reserve the right to cancel an order at any time, for a number of valid reasons.

If you place a custom order for 2 or more cozies, (excluding cozies made of organic yarns, and/or cozies with more than 2 words embroidered onto them), I will charge $15 per cozy instead of $16 per cozy.
