Just appreciating the morning dew and sunshine! Have a beautiful day, everyone!

I love thinking out of the box....

Over the years, I have been a Physical Therapist, a Molecular Biologist (Neuroscience rocks!), a teacher of Chemistry and Algebra, an Anatomy & Physiology Professor, a Home School Administrator, a Soccer Coach, a Tutor, you name it! But my most important role to date, is being a Mom.

So, whether it was trying to figure out the molecular interactions within neurons, creating new treatment plans for my P.T. patients, or even finding a way to get students interested in math and science....I cherished the challenge! I still enjoy creating, but now it is with fabric and clay. I love making unique and lovely items by combining colors, patterns, prints and textures!

My husband is the "K" in kNjStudio, loves woodworking and has made several items for our shop, including a supply cart for my stash, easels for my Mini Art Quilts, a ladder for displaying quilts, hanging rods and more. He will be adding more of his designs when he finds the time. Our little mini schnauzer, Piper, keeps an eye (she only has one) on the business from a cozy spot.

I love the creativity in working with clay and fabric, where I can combine patterns, colors and textures to create one of a kind pieces that bring joy to my heart, and hopefully yours as well!

Frequently asked questions
How are your ceramic pieces created?

The process of turning soft clay into a beautiful ceramic piece takes up to 2 weeks to complete!
After forming and texturing the clay into the shape desired, it must be allowed to sit until it is bone dry. The greenware is then bisque-fired in the kiln, where the clay is transformed into ceramic. After this first firing, the pieces are sanded, rinsed, and prepared for glazing.
Several coats of glaze are applied, allowing the glaze to dry before another coat is applied. The glazed bisque-ware is now ready for its final glaze firing. Each firing takes about 22-24 hours.
When the pottery emerges from the second fire, any stilt marks are sanded down and the piece is cleaned, polished and ready for use!
