It looks exactly like the picture but unfortunately it doesn't stay on your ear it bends out of shape very easily and the company never responded to my request that it was made for the left ear instead of the right ear. Not happy.

Kimur earrings in sterling silver. Named with the Hebrew word for "convex shape" in homage to the sensuous furniture objects created by Israeli designer Ron Arad.

X ear huggers on the soldering stone today. They start out as infinity loops because this shape gives the silversmith precise control over the angle at which the lines meet in the center.

About

In search of the essence of jewelry

I have a long background in dance, martial arts and movement, and so to me, the most fascinating aspect of jewelry or apparel is the way it interacts with the human form. When creating a new piece I ask myself, what will it look like to someone gazing at the wearer from an angle? How will it move when she moves? How does it relate to the natural lines of her face, neck, collarbone, torso?

In the past year or so, I've been focused on streamlining my life, letting go of possessions, habits and priorities that didn't fit (still love my shoes though). I feel this frame of mind is reflected in my latest collection as well: the lines are cleaner, every possible element that could be taken away has been taken away, to leave just "the essence of jewelry".

Having the freedom to move unencumbered, physically, is a big thing for me, which makes for a complicated relationship with fashion and jewelry. My solution is to think a good deal about the ergonomics of each piece, carefully honing the design until it feels when worn like part of your body. Half-jokingly I like to think of myself as a "jewelry engineer".

I'm fortunate to work with a team of individuals who are just as starry-eyed about what we do as I am, who help make, package and ship every piece of jewelry from our Jaffa studio. Read more about my team here: http://bit.ly/the-knobbly-team

I'm on instagram @knobbly_studio where I share some snapshots of my work process and life around. If you'd like to share a pic of you wearing one of my pieces, big hug to you, and please do hashtag #knobblystudio.

Q&A:

______

- Why doesn't my sterling silver piece carry a .925 stamp?

I choose not to stamp my sterling silver pieces. My pieces are very labor intensive as it is, being so delicate; stamping is work for a silversmith, and this would be reflected in the item's final price. I am confident in the source of my materials, and prefer to keep the prices accessible rather than have you pay for the stamp (which anyone can buy and use on any metal - it does not guarantee the material in any way!)

Allergy information: all items are nickel free.

Frequently asked questions

Is your jewelry safe for sensitive skin?

All jewelry in my store is nickel-free and therefore is suitable for sensitive skin, as nickel is the usual culprit when cheap jewelry causes skin irritation. However, some people can only wear gold or surgical steel - in that case, please stay safe, as unfortunately my jewelry may not be suitable for you.

How do I know if an ear cuff will suit my ear shape?

Ear shapes vary quite a bit, so this is a valid concern! I'd be happy to advise before you purchase if you'd like to send a picture of your ear via convo.

Is your sterling silver jewelry stamped with a .925 mark?

I do not stamp my silver jewelry. Stamping is work for a silversmith, and I'd rather not have to incorporate that into the item's price. I work with the most reputable casting houses in the country so I am confident in the quality of my materials! My casting house is listed in item descriptions.
