knoxfarmfiber's Shop Announcement

**** Beginning Wed July 1, I will be out of town and away from a mailbox. I will return home on Sunday July 12. My shop will remain open so as to add new yarns and to receive and send mails/convos. You can still purchase yarn but I cannot mail it until Monday July 13. Sorry for the inconvenience but I hope this can work for both of us, Thank you.****

When I opened this shop in 2008, all of the yarn was spun from the organic fleece of the sheep, goats and llamas at Knox Farm State Park in East Aurora NY. The Park was closed in 2011 and the animals went to other homes. .
The change has enabled me to explore new types of wool and new ways to spin it. Wool straight from the sheep continues to be my favorite fiber: Lincoln Longwool from Rita, Leicester Longwool from Abigail, Cotswold from Isabella, Blue-faced Leicester from Lena.
I try to know a bit about the sheep; wash, dry, and sometimes dye the entire fleece; then spin it curly or straight, bulky or worsted, single or plyed, from the lock or onto a core. If I could spin only natural colors I would. That said, I love to see new shades emerge from the dyepot and I use combinations of Greener Shades--an eco-dye. There is no fragrance used in the making of my yarns-- and no cigarette smoke at all.

I would rather be spinning.
