About

Original crochet accessories and apparel hooked with love and inspiration!

Konjo Crochet is a handmade fashion art business dreamed up by creator/maker/appreciator mahkeddah thompson. Our team hand crochet (and a little knit) warm and cold weather accessories & apparel hooked with inspiration from our African by way of Jamaican roots. My sister, Judith makes all of our plush handmade pom-poms and provides lots of creative consultation. We both learned how to crochet through friends and family, many who are part of the Rastafari community. Over twelve years ago we started with hats & tams, today we create tees, yarn accessories, sweaters, dresses and crochet toys. Our crochet hooks love color and natural materials like hemp, cotton, alpaca, mohair and wool.

Konjo Crochet supporters know they are purchasing original wearable art that will last for years. We are working had to manifest our vision to create seasonal small batch collections, art installations and classes to spread the art of crochet. We know crochet is ancient future and enjoy spreading the crochet love.

*Cool Fact: The word Konjo means beautiful in Amharic, the national language of Ethiopia. Mahkeddah learned the popular word while teaching English in Bahir Dar many moons ago.
