Hi, I’m Kristin, also known as “kRI kRI”, the creator behind kRI kRI Studio in Seattle. Originally, I earned a degree in ceramic sculpture. Although I showed my work in galleries, I also made smaller vessels which I sold in NYC. One day I was asked by a window designer for Barneys NY to use a large piece of mine for a display. My sculpture didn’t get in the window, but Mrs. Pressman, chief buyer for the Chelsea Passage, asked me to make a collection of dishes to sell at Barneys. I thought it was a one-shot deal, but the relationship lasted for 15 years!
My first vases were bud vases designed for Barneys Japan. They were decorated in my “kRI kRI” style which is ornate and whimsical. The vases are now made with "VIT", signature white stripes. “VIT” is Swedish for white. I speak Swedish and I like to think that this range has a simple, Scandinavian sensibility.
The collection has blossomed over the years. Shapes designed for single stems and small bouquets, have evolved into bases for my table lamps and hanging pendant lights. This direction has opened new possibilities in decor including orders for lighting fixtures from the exclusive, Soho House Hotels.
By thoughtfully creating objects small or large, in my Seattle studio, I am fulfilling my passions for sculpture and interiors. Etsy helps me reach my customers. In this way I hope to bring warmth and beauty to everyday living.
