Welcome to my small shop. Enjoy!
beautiful set - the only thing I would have preferred would have been an extra bead as a connector since the prayers I follow have something said on the connector (I just use the beads between the 5th bead and the next bead) just beautiful and I love the feel of the different stones - all my other beads are smooth. The cross is my absolute favorite of the ones I've bought- I just love it and it's the perfect size in my hand. I just love looking at this set and handling it. I've already used this set and just got it (I sorta collect protestant prayer beads and recently added rosaries. I like that these are offered with crosses instead of crucifixes like most rosaries and I prefer not having a connector to having the typical connector since I'm not catholic :-) absolutely beautiful set
the cross is a little bigger on this set but beautiful (and I don't hold it the whole time praying so no biggie) love the uneven sizes of the stones/rocks - this is not the set to get if you want even smooth beads - I loved fingering this set and have used it a couple of times (just got them) and they probably wont' be the set I reach for every time (sometimes I want smooth) but I did love using these -(have to edit since I've already used them 2 more times since I did this review! apparently they've been my latest fave!) took my time and fingered each one then the smooth cruciform were a totally different size and texture- very very nice. I'm happy to add these to my collection and would buy more. I would probably request a 'resurrection' bead like some makers have started adding but these are beautiful and I love them!
I haven't used this set yet(just got them yesterday) but have fingered them and in contrast to the other set I bought these are very smooth and more even-sized. the cruciform are larger and more rectangular. I love the cross on this set! these are all beautifully made - I bought 2 Anglican and 2 catholic rosary and all are different and beautiful and well-made.
From Making One Small Cross- My Calling is Found!
In the fall of 2005, my sons and I were shopping for a cornucopia for our Thanksgiving dinner. While at Michaels, I found a kit to make a small cross ornament with beads and wire. I was quickly hooked. Several years earlier I bought a bunch of beads at a garage sale but never had been inspired to use them. Now I was. I made hundreds of crosses that first winter and spring. What to do with all of them?
I signed up for my first craft show and my craft grew from there. Customers loved them but asked about lanyards, bracelets, necklaces and earrings. So, I learned to make jewelry. At a show at a Catholic school, a girl asked if I could make rosaries. Why not? So, I learned about prayer beads and rosaries.
In the beginning my two older sons loved coming to the shows with me. They helped set up, sell and tear down. Without them I would never have had the courage to display my creations and listen to the critiques.
Craft shows were also the next step in my "treatment plan" for my son's autism. It provided an excellent opportunity for him to learn about the value of money and practice social interactions. The first few shows were rough on his brother. Nate is acutely embarrassed by Gabe's social awkwardness. Now most people don't realize he has autism. And Gabe has learned the value of money. I do not worry about him being swindled or wasting his money on frivolous things.
Now my older sons are in high school and busy with sports. I promised them last year to curtail my craft shows and flea markets. They no longer had time or desire to spend all weekend at a show. I quickly decided I didn't want to miss all their games, matches and meets. Now we will put our time into Etsy.com and a few stores which carry my creations.
If someone had told me I would be a crafter, jewelry designer and vendor, I would have laughed at them and told them they were crazy. I have always been a very shy person who doesn't like crowds. For my sons, I overcame my shyness. I still don't like crowds and would much rather be by myself or with my family.
Owner, Maker, Designer, Curator
I am a bead and wire artisan. I started making crosses and expanded in response to customer requests to rosaries and jewelry. I hope you love my creations. May they bring you joy and peace. Through my art, I focus my life of God.
Nate, Gabe Caleb Payne
These boys are my inspiration and tireless workers when needed. The oldest two are now grown and away at college. My youngest now helps me.
