This volcano was a commission pipe. I sent Chris a picture of a pipe and asked him to make something similar. Well here it is and is turned out better that I imagined. Great pipe excellent craftsmanship and his pipes are very reasonable. If you want an excellent pipe at a very reasonable price, you can do no better than one of his pipes.

This again is a very good pipe. The quality is outstanding, and the service was also excellent. This is my fourth pipe from Chris and they are all excellent.

I requested this shape and it is an excellent pipe. I now have 3 of Chris's pipes and they are all excellent pipes. They smoke as good or better than other pipes in my collection that I paid more than twice what these pipes cost. Excellent pipes, and I can't say enough that he makes a great pipe and they are reasonably priced. And add to that the service is great.

Beautiful pipe!!!! This is the first handmade pipe I have purchased from Chris and it is evident that he is meticulous in his design and execution. The pipe smokes very well and I will definitely be purchasing again from this seller.

    About

    The story so far

I have been interested in artistic pursuits my whole life, and have always had a inkling for taking things apart and putting them back together. When I was young I used to wire up old switches and light bulbs in my parents basement, blowing fuses and mildly electrocuting myself until I understood what I was doing. I used to build model castles, cars and airplanes; paint figurines, draw pictures, maps, and paint pictures in watercolour and acrylic.

Later on I took apart guitars, bicycles, and anything else I could get my hands on. I refinished them, rewired and improved them while at the same time putting my own personal mark upon them. I am self-taught in almost everything I do, from personal hobbies to music, photography and even my past work as a utilities analyst.

So, when I started smoking a pipe it was only natural for me to be inquisitive about how they work and how they are made, and for me to try my hand at creating some myself. I started making pipes from kits that I bought (thanks Steve, Vermont Freehand!) and then quickly moved on to drilling my own blocks and stems. Since then I have been steadily working to improve my craft, producing about two pipes a week.

I find pipe-making incredibly therapeutic. The hours spent drilling, shaping, staining and fine-tuning go by quickly. It is an immersive experience very much in the moment. It is personally challenging, as any pipe maker will tell you in the beginning there are many mistakes, miscalculations and failed designs. It is not an endeavor to dabble at, as it takes many many hours of practice to hone the skills necessary to make quality pipes.

However, the pursuit of excellence in pipe making, and the example of so many great pipe-makers past and present is a rewarding experience that I cherish.
