Announcement   Welcome to Wizard's Workshop, LLC!

I've been an artist since I was a child. At about 4 years old I was dabbling in fiber, and I did my first frameable piece at 7 years old. Still have it too!

Over the years I've learned a great deal and had a wonderful time. Especially the college years in the Fiber and Weaving lab in the arts building. Expanding my horizons there and diving into other media - painting, sculpture and mixed media work.

I've introduced some fiber into the shop. More will be appearing soon. The process of taking a fleece from freshly shorn to spinnable fiber is one of the things I love most. The blended fibers come from mixed sources, but most of the wool in the shop is hand washed and processed. So if you want something slightly different - or completely different - send me a convo and let's talk about possibilities!

In the woodshop I'm focusing on wood and plastics, making lathe-turned pens and having a great time doing this! I use sustainable and recycled raw materials as much as I can because it is vitally important to me to protect the Earth's resources in any way possible.

I've had a lot of interest expressed in my dog fur brushings blended with wool. I'm searching for a new supplier for Samoyed fiber. I'd love to talk to you about brushings from your pet for custom batts. As I've often said, "You can brush and spin, or vacuum and swear". I've since learned that the pet fluff can be used for felting! My customers make beautiful things with their fiber!

Find me on my Facebook, Pinterest, Ravelry and on Twitter. I love to see what you are creating!

About

Wood, wool and other wonderful and beautiful things!

My shop originally started in 1988 when some people saw some of the things I made for myself and asked that I do the same for them. It all began with custom dressmaking, and has grown into what it has become today.

The woodturning came from a desire to make my own handspinning tools - spindles specifically - and I had no luck finding anyone who knew how to do it. So I started looking for things that were long and slender that there was some information on turning. I found pens! Rekindling my old love of calligraphy from my childhood, I plunged into making pens and had a wonderful time learning a new skill. Never have had the time to go back to spindles, although it is nibbling at my gray matter again...

I've been working with wool and fiber all my life, starting with needlepoint and sewing in my childhood. Completing a degree in Fashion and Interior Merchandising and Design exposed me to more sewing skills and a whole new world of fiber in the weaving lab and learning to spin.

Later on, I ran an organic farm, raising salad greens for market and milking dairy goats for homemade cheeses and fresh dairy products. Developed a small herd of sheep, mostly Corriedale and Suffolk, with a little bit of Romney in one of the crossbred ewes. Thoroughly enjoyed my time on my farm, but I had no time to spin and do any of my art.

Time and circumstances led me back to city life, and now I once again have the time to create and spin again. I'm knitting and sewing again as well and may develop some patterns in the future. I'm also in the process of writing some of my adventures down in my blog, you can find it at:

Welcome to Wizard's Workshop, LLC!

I'm a one-woman studio producing various types of artwork. Currently, my main focus is hand turned pens of several styles and materials. I've also added wool and yarn for fiber art to my shop because I love to do things with fiber as well.

My philosophy is simple, create beauty without harm to the environment or the people in it. I have the heart of an organic farmer and I still see through those eyes, even though I sold my farm in 2007.
