5 out of 5 starsPerfect! And a most interesting dragonfly. This species is the one my son tracked and studied from a pond in southern Canada not too far from Toronto all the way in its migration to a lengthy flight that ends up in Veracruz, Mexico. One of the species that helped earn his PhD! It is a big dragonfly and I think quite beautiful as your art perfectly shows. Thank you.

Nature-Inspired Educational Art
Artist Statement
Think of my art as a story rather than just a creative and beautiful execution. I create art inspired by the natural world and my family.
I do a lot of research of the subjects that I work on in order to find out the stories behind them. I often look through a microscope in order to illustrate the precise and accurate details that reveal the hidden world of them. Self-classified as "scientific-folk," the colors, patterns, and textures of the natural creatures are intricately illustrated in every piece of artwork. My purpose is to let people and me, especially the young ones, find and appreciate the beauty of nature and art, as well as conserve the environment through my art and stories.

Artist Biography
Kuen Kuen Spichiger is a nature-inspired artist, children’s picturebook illustrator and author, and art teacher living in the woods with her family in Washington, USA. Her family just moved from Pennsylvania to Washington State in the fall of 2018 and they are very excited to explore the beautiful natural environment. Nature, her entomologist husband and their young inquisitive daughter are her inspirations.
Kuen grew up in Hong Kong, studied graphic design, and worked as an art teacher, graphic designer, art consultant and lecturer before moving to the U.S. to pursue higher studies in art education.
In 2014 she established her business, Kuen Art Shop LLC, in which she combines her knowledge, skill, and love of nature and art education to create innovative nature-inspired educational products and services. Before she moved to Washington State, she offered art classes and summer art camps for all ages in the community. She was on the education committee at a local art and environmental center named Ned Smith Center for Nature and Art. Kuen was selected as a resident artist to complete an extremely detailed interactive display project, focusing on honeybees and native pollinators. Kuen was in two artist-in-residence mural projects with Jump Street and Perry County Council of the Arts. The residencies were collaborations with school districts and local environmental organizations to generate S.T.E.A.M. curriculum for the students between elementary school and high school. Recently she published two children’s picturebooks, which highlight her love of children, art and nature. Her energy, creativity and contributions to the community were recognized by Perry County Council of the Arts and she was awarded the Artist of the Year in 2017. Her nature-inspired educational art can be viewed and purchased in her Etsy online shop www.KuenArtShop.etsy.com and Facebook Page www.facebook.com/kuenart.

Care instructions: The creations with fabric transfers/iron-on transfers, such as the fish pillows, the pot holders and the mat in the magnetic fishing game
1. Do not let the transferred image touch any hot items directly. E.g. Use the back side (with no fish image) of the pot holder to hold hot pots/lids/dishes.
2. Machine-wash in cold cycle, tumble dry low. Or hand-wash, drip-dry out of direct sunlight.
3. To maintain durability, wash garment in a laundry bag.
4. Use mild detergent. Do not use chlorine bleach, and do not soak garment as colors may bleed.
5. Do not directly iron on transferred images. If peeling occurs, cover the image with a sheet of parchment paper before ironing.
