Announcement   Thanks for visiting my Etsy store!

Please feel free to convo me with questions and for shipping quotes for ANY AND ALL countries and continents not covered by my rates. I'll be happy to oblige and add your particular country if you convo me to say you are curious about those shipping costs.

My preferred pastimes are paper, printmaking, pattern and playing with those elements.

I am starting to add vintage items from my own hoarded supplies since I know I'll never be able to use all of the material I amassed antiquing with my mother in the 70s, working for a major auction house in Collectibles in the 80s and 90s, and foraging generally for as long as I can remember.

For my larger almost blanks book I make monoprints to use as the inside signature covers, and two commercial papers for the double covers. These are unique, heavy and meticulously worked books that make fabulous gifts. They even smell good due to the oil-based inks I use for the prints inside.

Smaller journals also use excellent quality materials and are made with no less attention to detail and workmanship.

From my boxes of vintage ephemera and printed remnants I also make collages and ACEOs.

Everything is shipped with speed and care from Italy.

Many more images of my books and prints viewable here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kurberry/

I'm proud to be a member of the Bookbinding Etsy Street Team - B.E.S.T.

These books are exquisite works of art - each unique and finely crafted by hand. As a frequent journaler, I can't wait to sit and be inspired! Shipment arrived quickly, and books were carefully packaged.

About

Hand made blank books, prints, mixed media collages, vintage ephemera and occasional jewelry

Thanks for finding my Etsy space and for taking the time to read about me!

I came late to making things, after a lot of years of working in big companies and without any sort of creative outlet. As a way of de-stressing while working I started taking courses in Seattle in print-making, then bookmaking, and then I started to put the two activities together. I have always loved paper, and old things, and photocopiers.

Gradually, I've begun making collages and uniting all of my favorite materials and techniques. I tend to hoard paper and old illustrated books and ephemera collected while working in the auction business. I am also starting to put some of that material into my Etsy store - always originals, never digital versions or copies.

Paper - plain or commercial, especially patterned, is my weakness. Better that than have a propensity to hoard newspaper, magazines, or shoes, right? My other weakness is oil-based ink. There is never a bad time to have a long session of gluing things together. By nature I am dextrous, attentive to detail, observant and infinitely curious. Lost in making something, or cutting something, or stamping something, or combining things, time flies by and nothing else matters. The ideas come thick and fast, inspiration is everywhere, but there are never enough hours in the day.

I don't draw, or paint, or manage to sit still and concentrate on a single thing for overlong. Oh look! A squirrel!!

Without doubt, I work better with deadlines and constrictions. I love taking classes and playing with and learning from other people whose visions and tastes are different from mine. I'd have stayed in college for twenty years if they'd have let me and if I could have afforded it.

I always hope that the stuff I make will go to appreciative new homes where it will become part of someone's life and give pleasure.

My books are almost always blank. As hard as I've tried to establish a journaling practice, it hasn't stuck. There is a lot to say and record, but the written word is not my way to do it. If you've found your way here, I bet it is your way of doing it!

Email me anytime with questions or comments.
