Beautifully made hat. The seller was very accommodating and sent me photos of the different grey yarns to choose from. Thank you!

About

SweetStuff Crochet: From keeping busy to keeping up with business

As a little girl, my cousins and I would spend time with Nana for weeks at a time. During that time we would swim, play pretend, go for walks beyond the block (which we weren't supposed to do!), eat spaghettios, drink teeny drinks and eat popsicles. All the fun stuff kids do at their grandparent's house. In the down time, sometimes we would get bored. "Nana! We're bored!" we would say. So Nana would think for a minute then sit us down on the couch and go back to her craft room. You never knew what she was going to bring out, sometimes it was paint, sometimes sewing or embroidery, but the one that stuck with me and my cousin Nicole (The Crochet Maven) was crochet. As 8 year old little girls we were awkward with the hook and it took us a while to even get chaining, single crochet then double crochet. The hardest part was ending up with a straight edge! Practice makes perfect. As we got older, we got better. As we got older, things got in the way and I lost interest for a while. When my friends started having babies I picked it back up again and started making blankets. That turned into making sweaters and hats to match. After a while, people started placing orders for various items, hats, blankets and sweaters for baby showers, birthdays and Christmas. Everyone asked me if I had a website and I would just say no. Eventually the inevitable happened and I decided to join Etsy. I named my shop SweetStuff because that's the nickname my Grampy Jim has always called me. He has always been a huge part of my life and using that name just seemed logical. Etsy seemed like the most popular site to sell from at the time. I didn't think I would sell much or anything at all. It took a few months but the orders started coming in slowly but surely. As of 2013 items from SweetStuff have travelled to many far away places including Africa, England, Ireland, Italy, Germany, France, Sweden, Australia and Alaska. I'm always trying new things and keeping up with demand for something different and cute. One of my favorite results of doing this is seeing the little boy or girl when they try the hat on for the first time and see themselves in a mirror. Priceless.

I live with my husband in a small fishing community in Maine. We have two dogs. We also raise pigs and cattle for meat. I love crocheting in my spare time and making hats is my favorite craft to do. I had a baby boy in May, he keeps me busy!

Shop policies

I started this shop with the intent to create access to modern and stylish accessories for babies, children, teens and adults using the age old art of crochet. Please note that all of my items are handmade and no two are alike. I try my best to make them as close as possible but they all somehow take on a personality of their own, especially my Sock Monkeys and Minions - little buggers ;) If you have an idea or would like to order something that is not listed here please email me and I will do my best to create a custom piece for you.

You are responsible for entering a correct mailing address. I ship all international packages (with the exception of Canada) by registered mail, please be aware this may take longer than first class international but it provides protection and more information for buyer and seller.
