"Variety is the spice of life."
Welcome to *Ladies of the Lake*!
We have a rather eclectic selection of items for you: some hand crafted by various folks here in the Ashland area, and some Vintage treasures. As Owner of the shop, I personally inspect everything that's listed for quality and truth-in-description, so what you see is what you get.
I weave, crochet and sew, among other things, and I like to combine these techniques in the items I offer. My woven items are planned, and quality yarns chosen, with great care to ensure comfort and quality. The warp is wound on a warping board, then threaded onto a jack-style floor loom and woven, all completely by hand. Placemats and tablerunners are often hemstitched by hand on the loom as I go. I sew the edges for pieces of clothing by machine once they're off the loom, for sturdiness in wearing and cleaning, then cover any visible stitching with a crocheted edging. If something I crafted says you may machine wash and dry it, or hand wash it, then I've already done that once, and ironed it as well: there will be no unexpected shrinkage after laundering.
Vintage items are all "as is"--my friend Cailleach finds the most interesting things; one advantage of living in a small town/rural area, oddly enough. But her offerings are As Described and Pictured. She is also very proficient at handcrafts such as sewing and embroidery.
"Bloody Effin Jack of the Dystopian Armory" can often be found sorting through scrap heaps, looking for parts for the unique (totally prop) weapons he creates for those of a Steampunk-ish persuasion. "Re-cycle, Re-use" at some of its most creative! Yet those Ether-slingers are quite sturdy, and lend a uniquely dashing air to any Jules Vern-esque persona, not to mention being one-of-a-kind!
Other friends contribute new items from time to time, too. Be sure to check back often--you never know what you might find!
With warm regards,
*Ladies of the Lake* is dedicated to great service. Every effort is made to mail your purchase the business day after you've ordered, and yes, we do mail to customers outside of the US. I encourage you to email us with any questions or concerns you may have, with the expectation of a speedy reply.

Weaving is my main 'thing'--I've been doing it, and other handwork, as a hobby for over 40 years. I retired from Nursing about a year ago. People keep asking me if I'm bored yet. --HECK no!!
