About

lahaine

Denise started lahaine back in 2008 when she was heavy into making mosaics. Fresh off her first gallery show she was looking for an outlet for what she was creating.

Honestly, we didn't put much time or energy into the shop until 2012, when Jim retired and was looking to keep his idle hands busy.

He started out making "book hooks" and record clocks. The clock thing sort of got stuck in his head and soon he was seeing a clock in everything he saw at flea markets and auctions - tennis rackets - fans - hair dryers for god's sake.

Somehow he saw value in old license plates and began making trays and clocks from them.

As anyone that repurposes knows, you always have more things around than you will ever use - so we added a line of vintage items to our offerings.

All and all, it's great fun.

    Maker

What do you do when you retire? Find something else to do. And Jim found making things that outlet. He started out as the buyer for lahaine, and then found inspiration in many of the thing he bought. So why not.
