Eco-friendly, unique and handmade products from a Community Based Organisation

Lamaro Studio started from a need to help Ugandan community based designers reach global markets. Although several women and men in Uganda are skilled in production of unique items, their identity as creators/designers is often invisible as they have not grasped opportunities and skills to market and brand themselves as such. As a result, very few "Ugandan brands" exist. Lamaro Studio strives to be a platform to nurture emerging and established designers to present themselves to their local and global markets. We do this by holding annual fashion shows on International Women's Day where designers showcase their best work. In 2020, more than a 100 participants attended a show to watch seven of their favourite designers. We also hold networking meetings every month "women in business breakfast meetings" where a woman entrepreneur shares her inspiring story or skillset. Members can also find mentors to improve their skills and knowledge in a particular business topic. Lastly, we provide a "brick and mortar" retail space that provides a space for women entrepreneurs to sell their branded wares. Please follow the hashtag #UGWomeninBiz on social media to keep up-to-date with our exciting activities.
