The Goal Of Forever Winding Wool

I have been a passionate knitter for over 25 years and a spinner for over 10. I love all types of yarn, but especially wool.

It all began innocently enough. While living in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, my family and I volunteered at a local living history museum for over three years. We demonstrated the complete wool process in the 1750s log home while dressed in costume. My husband and I personally gave guided tours to thousands of how the wool was handspun in homes and ultimately made into garments during that time in history. I learned a tremendous amount about wool and fiber there.

Shortly after beginning work at the museum, I began to sell my overflowing handspun yarn and hand-knit items in the museum store. I then developed a hand-dyed yarn line based on the colors of the museum.

Fast forward to now. We now live in a 5th wheel camper in one of West Virginias notorious "hollers" and are on a quest to restart an old homestead. We've torn down the uninhabitable house and will put another home in its place this year (2022).

You see, all the sales here are funding a unique project. After replacing the torn-down farmhouse with a home, my goal is to build a cabin near the road to sell my hand-dyed wool yarns and teach and demonstrate spinning again. I hope to begin building within a year (ambitious, but we can do it!). I will take what I learned in those early years and expand on it. Yes, one day, we may even own sheep on our 19 acres. How cool would that be?

I hand spin and hand dye yarn utilizing different techniques for a truly unique finished project.♥

I spin and ply all my yarn on a Louet DT, making premium yarn. I create and dye all yarn by hand in micro batches, so no two items are identical.

Any hand-knit items I occasionally offer are knit with attention to detail and are classic designs. I love the simplicity and having clothes that go from one "trend" to the next without looking dated. I strive to make sure all ends are secured and use yarns will last for many years of practical use.

We are a non-smoking family.

Returns and exchange details
I want you to be happy with your purchase.

I will accept returns that arrive within ten days of receipt (domestic or 14 days on international) on all merchandise that is returned in original condition. Please convo me within three days of receiving the product before sending an item back and let me know you are returning the article and the reason for the return. If there is an issue I need to take care of with my products, I'd like to know so I can fix it. :-) I use delivery confirmation on all my orders and the ten-day period begins from the day the item is recorded as being delivered to your door.

Many times you can use the same envelope you received the item in (re-taped) and just put a new address label on it. I will make a refund (less shipping) once I receive the returned item.
** Buyer also must have a delivery confirmation number on any returned packages to track any packages.**
Returned items must be shipped at buyers' expense.

**International orders returned must be shipped back, with insurance, at the customers' cost - the original shipping cost is non-refundable (the USPS did their job). The international customer must mark on the outside of the package/on the customs form that it is Returned Merchandise. Please return items in a suitable envelope/box that will ensure a safe return. I cannot refund your purchase if I determine that you use inferior shipping materials (resulting in damage) or if the item is lost in the mail while returning to me.

International orders outside the US, if you don't contact me within 14 days to initiate the return, so I receive it within 30 days the item purchased is officially yours to do with as you wish. Remember, in the unlikely event of a return, I will refund your full purchase price, less the shipping once I receive the item.

Any hand dyed, hand spun yarn is one of a kind. If it was not what you were expecting, or you are unhappy with it, please convo me, and we will discuss returning the item if it is in the SAME CONDITION it was when I sent it to you. I will either refund or exchange, whatever we work out in convos.

Knitting needles. Some of what I offer is one of a kind, and may not be replaceable. I might be able to provide a similar substitute in some cases if your needles were damaged in shipping. Again, communication is the key. :-)

**Cancellations of digital downloads

I do not accept cancellations on orders where payment is made "instantly." In other words, payment made with a credit card, or with another form of instant PayPal payment (through a linked bank account, or with your PayPal balance for example) since the download will also be available instantly; I cannot cancel the order.

You may cancel the order BEFORE the payment clears (if using an e-check) if you have not already received a download link.
Shipping
-Any orders weighing 16 oz. or more will be sent priority. Orders shipped that weigh less than 16 oz. will be sent first class. USPS is used to ship all items, domestic and international.
**Delivery tracking and confirmation are included on ALL US orders.

-International orders will be shipped First Class International. International customers are responsible for all fees associated with shipping to their respective countries. Orders sent to countries outside of the United States may be subject to import taxes, customs duties, and fees levied by the destination country. The recipient of an international shipment may be subject to such import taxes, customs duties, and fees, which are levied once a shipment reaches your country. The recipient must bear additional charges for customs clearance; we have no control over these charges and cannot predict what they may be. Customs policies vary widely from country to country; you should contact your local customs office for further information. When customs clearance procedures are required, it can cause delays beyond our original delivery estimates. All international orders have the total value declared on the customs form per the U.S. and foreign government regulations. I will not mark purchases as gifts and will state the actual value. Falsifying customs forms is illegal and can result in your package being confiscated, fines levied, and/or other penalties. - No exceptions -

-We use as few packaging and shipping materials as possible to be environmentally responsible. Poly mailer or Tyvek bags are often used for up to 3 items and boxes for larger orders. Everything is placed in a clear plastic bag to protect against odor, moisture, and dust during transport. Often the plastic bags are recycled from the yarn I received when restocking my shop.

-You are responsible for putting the correct mailing address in the forms when checking out. If you realize that you've checked out with the wrong mailing address, message me as soon as possible. If I haven't mailed the order, I can change the label. If the package is already in the USPS's hands, I cannot change the address. There will NOT be a refund for orders that aren't delivered to you if you've written the wrong address UNLESS it is returned to me by the USPS.

-My shipping prices reflect the value of my time to process your order, ink, labels, envelopes, tape, postage, and packaging. Please know that if you see the shipping cost on an item to be $0.00, it is just that, FREE TO YOU. I like free shipping and love offering it when I can!

Frequently asked questions
How do I care for my finished hand knit wool or wool blend items?

I love wool fiber the way it comes off the sheep. Some of the hand dyed yarn I carry has been treated with chemicals to make it machine washable and to make the colors more vibrant.

I recommend that you hand wash all of your wool projects with gentle shampoo in cool water. You do not have to rinse if using a mild soap explicitly manufactured for washing wool (NOT Woolite). Rinse it thoroughly and gently press out extra water without twisting if you use a regular shampoo. Roll it firmly in a terry towel to absorb more moisture, then lay your project out to the correct measurements letting it dry naturally. Aim a fan at the garment's surface if you want to speed up drying.

Can I wash the finished garments in the washing machine?

I do not recommend *ever* throwing your finished items in the washer, even if the yarn is “super wash” (supposedly machine washable). Your hand knit/hand crocheted items will look better for YEARS if you wash them in the sink with shampoo, then lay to dry. NEVER dry wool in the dryer.

My country is charging import duties on the package.

Your purchase may be subject to import fees, taxes, and duties according to your country’s import policies. These policies vary widely from country to country; please contact your local customs office for any specific information.

We are not responsible for international customs fees, taxes, import duties, or any fees associated with collecting these charges. We are legally obligated to report all international purchases as “merchandise” with the exact retail value paid by the customer. This information and value are noted on the required form that serves as the USPS shipping label and US export customs form. We legally cannot mark retail merchandise as “gifts” nor declare a value lower than paid for by the customer.

Will I be able to track my order?

All orders include tracking free of charge and the number will be included in your notification once the shipping label is printed. Tracking can have fits of updating and then nothing is given for days. This unfortunately, is all in the hands of the USPS.

If your order is international, once a package has left the U.S. it is in the hands of your country's national postal service. There is no extra way I can access tracking information from this point until the package arrives at its final destination. If you should have questions regarding tracking a package once it has left the U.S., please contact your local postal service.

Your shipping notice says 1-3 days, so when DO you ship?

Purchases made Monday-Friday ship the next business day.
I cannot ship Saturday, Sunday, and USA Federal Postal Holidays (the post office is closed).
