About

Wildlife inspired glass mosaics

LA (Long Ashton, just so you know) Mosaic Gifts is my mosaic business. I turned my love of mosaics from a hobby into a business in 2006. I am a Mum to two little girls (ages 7 & 10) and now that they are both at school, I have fractionally more time to create.

I design and make mosaics - splashbacks, wall art, table tops. Some of my work is reproduced as cards, coasters and prints.

A lot of my work is inspired by nature and I love to use glass and all the vibrant colours that it comes in. I like subtle colours too and occasionally use ceramics/broken plates etc. but I prefer the glass. Probably my inner magpie at work.

Birds are a particular favourite of mine and I have a long list of birds I would like to mosaic - I'm hoping 2018 will bring me a little more time to achieve this.

I love to create flowing, unique mosaics and although I mainly create pieces from my own imagination, I often source images from books/internet for inspiration. Each piece starts as a sketch, whihc I then transfer to a piece of mdf (usually, although sometimes it's hardibacker). I then cut and glue down individual pieces of glass, all cut by hand. The final stage is grouting and the choice of colour for a grout can make or break the piece. Fortunatley I have found some tricks to remedy this!

I work from home, in the conservatory, which has plenty of light - perfect for colour work. I've worked in the evenings before undr artificial light, only to discover the next morning that the colours are completely wrong/different in natural daylight!

My other love, is music and I play the double bass in a folk band called Faeland.

Returns and exchange details
If you are within the EU and for any reason you desire to return an item, please contact me within three days of receipt of item and return the item in original condition, with original packaging, within 7 days. I will refund your purchase price after receipt of returned item. Return postage must be paid for by the customer, but I will refund original postage. Custom orders cannot be refunded unless they are a resalable item. All custom orders will be fully detailed during the design process so that you are aware of exactly what you will be receiving. Please read all item descriptions carefully. If you are outside the EU, refund will be at my discretion. Items to be returned because the description has not been read are at my discretion.
Payment
Paypal, credit card, debit card or Etsy gift card please. All payments to be made up front and completion dates will be individually discussed, to mutual agreement. Custom mosaics take some time to complete, but we will agree this and I can work to deadlines if you let me know.
Shipping
I will post using Royal Mail if it is in the UK. I use standard 1st or 2nd class service but will be happy to upgrade to a signed for/registered service if you are happy to pay for it.
International delivery is usually by UPS (unless it is a small item) which is tracked and signed for. I will supply details of the tracking.

2nd class postage in the UK will take approx 2 days from postage date.
Postage to the US will take 5-7 working days from the postage date.
Postage to the EU takes 3-5 working days from the postage date.

I will usually use recycled packaging as I am a big believer in recycling. Why throw a perfectly usable box away when it can easily (and also, more cheaply for everyone) be used again? So, please be assured that although it may not look pristine, I always very carefully wrap the contents.

I feel that I need to mention that all international customs are the responsibility of the buyer.
Additional policies and FAQs
I make sure that all items are posted with the correct level of insurance - from cards to mosaics. In the unlikely event that a shipment goes missing/arrives damaged it will be covered. Please contact me if you have any queries regarding this.
