About

The Tree

Growing up with a mother who is a seamstress, a father who is a wood worker, one grandmother who is a painter, and the other who is a craftswoman meant that my love of art and crafting are practically genetic. It was in grade school, when I started participating in science fairs that I discovered my other passion: conservation. For several years I did ongoing experiments about landfills and ways to better use and reuse the resources we have been blessed with. I found my grandparents' lessons of Great Depression era thrift inspiring, and I began to look for ways that I could reuse things that others were willing to throw out.

When I started L'arbre, I did so with the desire to help both the Earth and the global community. I called it "the tree" in French because of my Cajun heritage, and also because of trees amazing ability to take the best things out of dirt, mix it with sunlight, and create beautiful foliage, flowers, and food. Almost everything you see in my shop (except the custom paintings) is reincarnated. Whether it had been long neglected, broken, stained, or just unwanted, I fell in love restoring them to beauty.

I'm sitting here today, doing what I love; with a wonderful husband, and three amazing kids, who I homeschool. We live on a fifth generation family farm with goats, rabbits, chickens, equines, cats, dogs, and a lot of really cool woods. Every day, I feel a little more blessed to be on this path.

I grew up at craft fairs where my talented mother was a vendor, and learned young from my thrifty grandparents to find the beauty in things others may overlook or throw out.
