About

La Rue de Fleurs: Hand made, nature inspired, heirlooms infused with love

I have always been a creative crafter, DIYer, and artist, but only began quilting over the last several years. Once I started quilting, I just couldn't get enough. At the suggestion of friends, family, and storage space, I opened an Etsy shop. I am also an avid gardener, nature lover, and mother, and therefore am heavily inspired by the wonders of nature and subjects that inspire wonder in my children. My products are the reflection of a life driven to create, and a desire to help contribute to my family income while remaining true to our family values to stay home raising my children.
We live in a semi-rural area, just to the west of Central Pennsylvania's Amish country. I am blessed to live near a family owned and operated quilt shop, where I get many of the materials I use for my projects. Many of the other materials we use are collected from yard sales, flea markets, curiosity shops, and friends and family. It simply feels good to take something that has served its purpose and re-imagine it into another beautiful, useful item. Both my parents and parents-in-law are avid re-purposers, and inspire us to find creative ways to use old materials to create something new or useful.
At our house, we make Etsy a family affair. We are spending time together and creating products and memories at the same time. My husband and I collaborate on wood projects he creates. My children join me while I sew, stuff things (when appropriate) and give their input on colors. I hope that helping me shop for supplies, work on things, and see me working on fulfilling a passion has given my children insight into how to make a well-rounded life. Plus, having my family share in my joy makes it that much sweeter!
In short, we believe in family and making the most of everything we've got, and it is our hope to bring that philosophy through to our small business and the things we create. We sincerely hope you love our projects as much as we love creating them for you!

Frequently asked questions
Custom and personalized orders

I am able to create custom orders and would love the opportunity to use some of your favorite or meaningful cotton fabrics in a custom design. I can also personalize many items with embroidery for an additional charge. I am a small, one-person business and many of my fabrics are sourced from various locations, therefore I can not continuously stock all of the fabrics that I use. Some pattern/fabric substitutions many be necessary based on availability and quantity at the time of your order. You will be informed of, and have approval of, any necessary substitutions. We MAY require a minimum purchase if you are requesting a specific or licensed fabric outside of our stock. Please convo me for availability and customization options.

Care instructions

I strive to create heirloom quality quilts and home goods for your family to use and enjoy for years to come. To prolong the life of your quilt, please wash it sparingly in a phthalate free detergent. Launder in cold water in a small load with like colors. Tumble dry low or lay the quilt flat to air dry. Please note that the fabrics will become wrinkled and crinkled around the quilted stitching over time and washes. This feature is to be appreciated as the charm of the quilt.
