As a professional woman I needed an attractive, practical, light weight backpack to carry my "stuff", especially my laptop. I also wanted an accessory that was distinctive. I couldn't find a backpack that met my needs, so I designed and made my own. This led to making more backpacks, bags, and commissions. In January 2017 I started La Tasca. "La Tasca", means pocket in Italian, because that is how we use our bags and backpacks!

They are designed with a dual focus on beauty and functionality, constructed with meticulous attention to detail and durability. Fabrics are chosen for beauty, uniqueness, practicality, and durability. Exterior fabrics are water-resistant. Zippers, metal hardware, lining, foam, cord, etc. - are superior quality. Most items are machine washable/dry-able on delicate and all can be dry cleaned. They will remain looking good, even with heavy daily use, for years.

La Tasca, LLC is operated from my atelier in the Germantown section of Philadelphia. The main sewing machine, a Singer, serial number AG742953, was given to my mom in 1947 for her sixteenth birthday, and she gave it to me when I went to college. It is now 70 years old, and is affectionately called "Beauty" because it still sews like a "Beast".
