Announcement   Art Saddle Pads for dressage, CT and jumping. Featuring hand drawn batik using traditional tjauntings and hot wax. From the California back country.

There was some trouble getting Lami-Cell pads last year, so this year the medallions will be on PRI pads. I asked my friends, both amateur and pro, what pad they liked for cost and value together. PRI was the top of the list!

Whole cloth batik pads are also in the works. This is a long process and I want them to be just right for you, nothing sloppy or in a hurry. It takes time to make everything smooth and flat and perfect for your favorite horse, and stay that way without breaking down or shifting and bunching.

Deluxe Denim pads are hard working but flashy, hand constructed with layers of super absorbent cotton inside and out with cotton denim on top.

Medallion pads are pretty good ready-made pads with batik art medallions securely sewn on.

Close Fit pads designed for when your saddle fits like a glove but you still need a little cotton something underneath.

Big industrial sewing machines make these look perfect.

Have fun looking, ask questions.

Incredible service, and I absolutely love the saddle pad. It fits my 17 in dressage saddle perfectly, and the color is stunning against my lease horse's chestnut coat. This saddle pad has also gotten quite a few compliments.

Here is my pony Pepper, modeling a pony pad. She's really a driving pony, but she can stand still and have her picture. Trained for riding, she really prefers driving. #gotlandponies #12hands #pepperponypizza

About

Be Bold, Be Brave, Be Sassy! Ride well and be noticed with your Laughing Mare saddle pad.

I started making saddle pads for myself. As a dressage rider in the '80s and '90s, the pads you could buy were very boring: Black on white, white on black. I wanted more, so I began making my own. These turned out to be prototypes for the pads I make now. It was a 15 year process to get it just right.

My saddle pads have been in quilt shows, in the wearable art category.

My background: I learned a lot of design while quilting, had quilts in shows and won some prizes. I returned to the batik I learned in High School (and couldn't do at home back then because it was "messy") and developed my skill, entered some art shows and won some prizes. I tried primitive folk art dolls--another show, another prize. That was all fun.

My heart was always saddle pads and batik, and I had to combine those. I had to. I was driven. When I am in my workshop, my whole heart becomes the saddle pad I am making. When you buy one, you buy a piece of my heart and my wish that it brings you some of the joy I felt while creating it.

My destiny from birth was technical because that was my parent's entire Universe. After that, I grew up and broke free. They are totally shocked and impressed, almost like I went to Narnia. Now I have horses and art supplies... and sewing machines
