What are Fiddlestone Loops?

I have a description of what these are as well as a handy guide to customization options posted here:

Please note: As of February 2009, due to financial burdens and general confusion about unclearly written new testing requirements of the CPSIA law, I will no longer selling "nursing necklaces". More information about this can be found here:
I make my loops the same way as always, but these necklaces are designed for moms and adults, not as anything that should be given to children.

Accepted payment methods

Returns and exchanges
My pieces are 100% guaranteed or your money back.

Please contact me prior to returning an item.
Items returned prior to contacting me will not be refunded.

If your item is just not what you expected, contact must be made within 3 days of receiving the item and returned within 14 days.

If the item you receive at any time in the first year becomes defective due to a mechanical reason such as a break in a FiddleStone Loop wire (I make these strong enough to take up to 48 pounds, so they should not break even if yanked) or a defective clasp, please send back the item. It will be fixed free of charge and sent back to you.
An item that has been damaged due to improper care will not be refunded.

Silver will tarnish if left out in the elements. To preserve your jewelry, store in a plastic bag or use other means to keep from the elements. Store and wear your jewelry with care. The stones and glass may break if dropped.
I charge a flat rate for items in my shop.
Flat rate on the FiddleStone Loops includes customization options that are chosen by you at the time of purchase, so that your necklace will be the perfect fit *for you*.

I have a list of customization options and a handy-dandy guide to help you select the best length and color options available online here:

Buy one item, or buy several - same shipping price - I combine all the shipping into a single fee so you don't ever get penalized for buying more than one!

Shipping fee prices reflect postage and tracking, but also packaging, overhead and handling costs, including customization options such as cord length.

There is no extra charge for different metal choices in your earrings, extra backings either.
I ship all items within 2 to 3 business days from receiving payment (I ship on Mondays through Fridays, excluding holidays).
Domestic orders will get a tracking number through Paypal once the item is shipping - there is, unfortunately, no tracking available for International sales, but you will get a notice when your package is at the post office to let you know it is on it's way.

All orders that include a FiddleStone Loop will ship with a letter that can be given to explain the functionality of the necklace so that they are ready for gifting.

If you want an invoice included, let me know - I don't usually include one unless it's requested.
International Customers:

I do ship orders overseas!
Your purchases may be subject to duty fees at customs borders - those will vary depending on the laws of your country.
I ship United States Postal Service (NOT UPS which I hear charges extra "brokerage fees") and I ship using First Class International as my standard International shipping offering. Please contact me if you want to do a different kind of shipping.
Additional policies and FAQs
About the materials I use:

I go out of my way to try to use lead-free metal components for my work.
I cannot test all the components, but I always ask when buying to make sure that they are labeled lead-free, and I avoid certain types of materials from unknown vendors, as I have had to throw out supplies which failed routine testing that I would do once I got home.
For my FiddleStone Loops, I stick to specific known vendors of lead-free pewter (it doesn't seem to tarnish as much) and I use lead-free silver plated clasps on the cord tips.
I can do solid sterling silver clasps and components if you have allergies, but you need to let me know as this requires me to get some special components and it will cost a little extra. Unfortunately, I haven't found sterling silver Lobster-style clasp cord tips that are as strong as the ones I use, but I have been able to find Sterling Silver Hook-style clasps for customers who need this.

The only exception that I am aware of when it comes to using leaded materials in my work is the use of Swarovski crystals. (I do not use Swarovski crystals in my FiddleStone Loop Pendants, but some earrings and other designs may occasionally use them.)

Swarovski crystal information
On my site, I offer some beaded designs that are made with leaded crystals by Swarovski.
For more than a hundred years, Swarovski has been the world's leading brand for cut crystal. Swarovski crystal is the culmination of merging natural materials, cut to provide ultimate brilliance. If you want to learn more about Swarovski crystal, please click here to visit their Web site.

Swarovski crystals, like most other crystals, contain lead oxide. Lead creates the refraction of the crystal with the maximum refraction at 30-32% lead content. Lead also adds to the weight of the crystal giving it a more substantial feel. Austrian Swarovski crystal contains approximately 32% lead. Full lead crystal must contain above 30% lead oxide content in order to be consider full lead crystal.

Please note, Lead levels in these products comply with FDA standards.
Having stated this, note that the Public Health Statement for Lead states that "not much lead can get into your body through your skin" and routine handling of leaded metals is more likely to cause a transfer than getting the lead out of the crystal. To leach lead out of the glass, the crystals would need to soak in an acidic environment for about 8 years, a problem that is more real when it is a crystal decanter which stores liquor, but less probable with even a swallowed stone which would pass through the body before lead could leak out.

California Proposition 65- For California Residents

I try to ensure that the products sold at my store comply with all applicable safety and health requirements. Below is the lead warning that is required by the State of California in conjunction with the use of Swarovski crystals.

If a person is from California when they purchase something containing Swarovsky crystals from my store, California requires the following notice of the Proposition 65 warning to be shown.

Attention California residents. Proposition 65 WARNING:
Consuming foods or beverages that have been kept or served in leaded crystal products or handling products made of leaded crystal will expose you to lead, a chemical known to the State of California to cause birth defects or reproductive harm.

The Public Health Statement for Lead is available online here.
