A Little About Me, My Work, and My Shop...
I am a petite artist, a Coastie wife, and mother of two boys and an angel. Most days I start with a bottomless cup of coffee and chasing my son around the house tripping on legos trying to get ready for school. Then I am off to my studio to create, package and mail off art. I may also play a little air guitar from time to time on painting breaks :)
I am originally from the metropolitan area of Detroit, Michigan, and graduated from the Columbus College of Art and Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. I worked as an artist and art conservator in New Orleans, Louisiana, for several years before pursuing a career as a professional artist. My family has been stationed in locations including Pensacola and Tampa, Florida, New Orleans, Long Beach, California, Chicago, Detroit, and we presently live in Chesapeake, Virginia.
My artwork has always been my sounding board, documenting my life experiences, and providing opportunities for me to examine and evolve. Life is a journey with highs and lows. It is essential to find balance and peace in life and in our work. Like abstract expressionists, the activity of creating is an important aspect to my work. My work is composed of layers of screen printing and paint splattered, scraped, expressive brushstrokes, spontaneity and improvisation. With moving around as much as we do, I am constantly inspired by my ever-changing surroundings. The beauty and architecture of the natural world as evidence by the use of plants and flowers in much of my artwork. My collection to this point documents many of my major life events as a woman, artist, mother, and military spouse living and traveling throughout the U.S.
Having an Etsy Shop has been a monumental tool for my business as a military spouse because we must uproot and move somewhere new every couple of years. Through Etsy, I can connect with people from all over the world without any need for a storefront.
Please feel free to contact me anytime with any questions thoughts. I want to make sure you are happy with your investment with the right piece of art for you :)
