About

Laurel Moon Beads: Hand Selected for Fun and Flavor

I first began selling beads in 1997. At this point I didn't know the difference between Indian and Italian glass, and modern and vintage. I only knew that I liked beads!

I worked for an Italian import company and we stocked many gorgeous Murano glass beads. I made hundreds of pairs of earrings, necklaces, bracelets...and sorted thousands of beads. I began to buy beads and started looking out for beadstores whenever I went on trips. I was hooked!

Eventually I went to work for another bead company and became a sales representative. I sold vintage beads and vintage reproduction beads as well as semiprecious stone and glass. I learned a lot about the history of beads and the modern bead industry.

I decided to start buying closeouts. I thought that even though some beads might not be popular at a store, they might have a bigger audience nationally. I started buying huge lots of beads--the good, the bad, and the sad. I displayed beads at a few of my jewelry shows and sold out of them.

I signed up for bead shows and packaged more beads into dollar bags. I did well, but the downturn in the economy hurt many bead shows, and I downsized a little, and then turned to the internet. In 2005 I began selling beads on eBay, and slowly but surely that has grown into a wonderful venue. I followed suit on Etsy in 2007 and found many wonderful buyers who are looking for the unusual and the interesting.

Nowadays I buy vintage whenever I can, and I also try to hand-select funky and interesting semiprecious stone beads and cabs. I like to present a varied collection of items so that people have a lot to choose from. I hope you enjoy browsing through my treasures!

I've been creating jewelry since 1996, and selling beads shortly after that. I fell in love with vintage beads right away! They have such character and history. I love organizing them. :)

Frequently asked questions

Tell me more about returns.

If you have a problem with anything you've purchased from me, please do not hesitate to contact me. I want you to be happy with your purchase.

I accept returns within 14 days of receipt. Buyer must notify me before shipping item(s) back. The item(s) must be in sellable condition in their original packaging. Buyer pays return shipping unless the item(s) are defective.

What happens if my package does not arrive?

First Class domestic packages generally take 3-5 days to arrive at their destination. However, keep in mind that the USPS describes the service as taking 2-10 business days (business days do not include holidays or weekends).

First Class International packages generally take 1-2 weeks to arrive at their destination. However, they sometimes can take up to a month to arrive due to Customs delays, etc.

Your best course of action in any situation where a package has not arrived is to contact your local post office first. I do not consider domestic/international packages "lost" until at least a month has passed.

Please contact me if your package is lost and I will do what I can to rectify the situation.

How are my items packaged for shipping?

I ship things securely. That means that they are shipped in a box along with packing material. I do not ship in padded envelopes unless all of the item(s) involved are metal. Shipping & handling costs cover the box(es), the packing materials, the labels, etc.

I generally ship each day Monday through Saturday, though there are exceptions such as holidays and business trips.
