THINK PINK! Nude figure candles now available in a vibrant pink to brighten a rainy day. I also now sell sets of 2 candles with a wood stand.

About

Artist makes products for fun and profit

It was art school in the early eighties and we were desperately trying not to blend into the background--lots of asymmetry, home made and altered clothing, arty haircuts, and snarky attitude. Growing up in that period gave me a lifelong aversion to all things "normal" as well as an unorthodox approach to personal style. I began making jewelry and quirky household items for myself and my friends, but then it morphed into a business model for surviving as an artist.

I like to keep my production small so that I can control the quality and craftsmanship of what I make. Each piece of jewelry is a unique variation of my general repertoire of materials and shapes. I do my own flame working on the glass components, often forming a whole batch of beads and bubbles at once then choosing parts to combine. My finished jewels often depend upon what is just in the right spot on my workbench clutter when I'm searching for beads or colors or scavenged bits to put together.

The candles began as a holiday joke item some years ago. They took off and were the major part of my business for several years. I still hand pour all of them, blending colors in small batches and hand trimming each piece. The waxy labor has become very meditative. The candles are immortalized in the first "Big Brother" house and in Savanna's bedroom on "Glee".

    Owner, Maker, And Everything Else

Both my parents were artists, so I guess you could say it's in my DNA. I have a long career doing large sculptures and installations (see www.laurengrossman.com if curious), but I have always loved making wearables and utilitarian things on the side.

Thank you for coming to my shop! I am a one woman cottage industry based out of my studio in Seattle, so all the jewelry and findings are made by hand by me. My necklaces and earrings are one-of-a-kind, so the item you see photographed is the exact piece that will be shipped to you.

I also hand pour my candles to order. Because they are made in small batches, the colors may vary slightly.

Accepted payment methods

  • Accepts Etsy Gift Cards and Etsy Credits
Returns and exchanges
I am a tiny operation, not Nordstrom's, so please feel free to ask questions and make your purchases carefully. The jewelry items pictured are the exact items shipped to you, so you should know exactly what you're getting from the photos. The candles are made to order in small batches, so there may be some color variations. I generally do not do refunds, but exchanges might be possible.

That said, please contact me immediately if the item arrives damaged. If there is some other problem with your purchase, please contact me and we'll see what we can do to make sure we are both happy about it.
Payment
I accept credit card payments through Etsy, Etsy gift certificates, and PayPal.
Buyers who have a shipping address within Washington state will be charged 9.6% sales tax.
Shipping
I generally ship jewelry out the next business day. The candles may take me a few days to make if I don't happen to have the colors/genders you ordered on hand. My items will be shipped USPS Priority with tracking confirmation within the United States. Multiple items may be combined within a single shipping charge or we can upgrade the shipping. Please convo me for pricing.

For International Orders - I am required by law to state the value of the items on a customs form. Please be aware that each country may require customs fees or taxes upon arrival. All taxes, duties and customs fees associated with international shipping are the responsibility of the buyer. Currently, I am only shipping the jewelry internationally, but if you wish me to price shipping for the candles CONVO ME.
Additional policies and FAQs
I am certainly open to custom orders or a close variation of an item if you want multiples of something or missed out on a particular piece. Convo me and let me know what you're desiring.

I also am open to wholesale orders!
