I love this painting. I am a return customer and I asked Sheila for a larger version of a small painting she had listed and she made exactly what I was looking for. I highly recommend!

Amazing. It makes the whole room feel good. Thank you for painting the sides turquoise - that was a great choice.

Stunning paintings. I will definitely purchase more art from Sheila's studio in the future! Paintings were meticulously wrapped for shipping and arrived quickly. Thrilled to find her on Etsy.

Studio in the Woods and by the Water

I've been fortunate enough to retire early (relatively speaking) and now am able to spend time in my studio.

I was born in Novato, CA and spent time in Japan, Texas and Taiwan. I settled in Gloucester, MA with my Gloucester- born husband, Steven. We met in art school at the University of Texas in Austin and we both ended up working in high tech for the same company.

My process is not very complicated. I start by completely covering the white canvas with a layer of another color. (The white canvas doesn't inspire me.) I never really know what's going to happen and more often than not, I paint over the first attempt.

I'd like my paintings to bring a sense of calmness as you look at them. Life is so complicated/complex -- sometimes you just need a place to rest.

I always have music playing. I have a wide assortment from Joni Mitchell, Eva Cassidy, Florence + Machine.

I do try to buy other artists when I can. Some of the artwork in the images are from: Peter Mack, Sada Art, Marisa826, Pam Munger.
