I love my teeny tube. It's the perfect way to transition from winter to summer and back again - a scarf necklace almost. You can wear it several different ways due to its size - 3 long loops or 5-6 short loops make for completely different necklaces! I've also experimented with this as a bracelet and headband and have been really happy. n nRachel's craftsmanship is really impressive - it looked PERFECT in terms of the stitching. Also - love the ombre dyed look mine had! Couldn't be happier.

About

original and organic designs that blur the lines between fiber, jewelry and leather work.

lazy tree designs began with a crisp dream for handmade and sustainable accessories from a fresh graduate of savannah college of art and design in 2010.
it all began with a knack for natural dyeing, a knifty knitter and a penchant for punching roving into felted balls. these unlikely allies formed a piece which continues to be my absolute favorite-both to wear and to craft; the big tubular neckwear.
this dream survived some hard times and hard moves from savannah and denver to gain it's footing back in north carolina. after a few setbacks ltd is now growing beautifully in the crafting world. as of 2012, some incredible opportunities are making it possible to branch out to boutiques across the country.
all of the designs in this line are inspired by and created from nature, from the rich colors to the lux materials and especially the designs. endeavoring in knitting and crocheting, natual dying, free motion embroidering, sewing, jewelry making, and leather work has created a unique blend of cross-over accessories. every time i pick up a crochet hook or dip a skein of yarn into a bath there blooms the exhilarating possibility of pure inspiration to lead me to a new innovation.
it is a unique joy to know that i might see someone on the street in any number of cities in the united states and canada walking about in my wares! that keeps lazy tree designs true to its original manifest: to have high quality craft designed from natural, organic, and renewable sources, to give them color from nature, for each piece to be visually enticing and intrinsically ergonomic, and most importantly, to put love into every piece. because everything that you put out into the world will come back to you. and isn't that a lovely concept?
every single product in the line is made by me, by hand. the other two tireless workers are my sewing machines: bernie the bernina and agatha the wards signature, which practically count as people. they have tempers and moods just like everyone else! almost all of the equipment in my studio came to me pre-loved (including bernie and agatha) which exemplifies my staunch belief that quality lasts and that reusing or recycling everything to reduce our waste as consumers is the only is the only responsible way forward.
this business is held together by wonderful patrons such as yourself, my amazing family, and my wonderful friends. without them i would not have had the courage to go out on my own and battle accounting, website building, and pattern making along with all the other adventures of small business. and lest i forget him and he pouts- much encouragement is given to ltd from my faithful canine companion, smalls. the mascot of lazy tree designs, he is absolutely worthless at sewing and felting but he is an unparalleled foot warmer on cold nights filled with knitting and stitching.
i am so fortunate to have found something to do with my hands that i love, and that others love.
thank goodness for all the people and creatures that make lazy tree designs work. and thank you for supporting handmade.

i grew up in a house my family built outside of a small town in north carolina. i am a maker and dyer who believes in natural materials and ergonomic design. everything that is made for a purpose should function at the pinnacle of its potential. and everything that is ever made by a hand carries a memory of its conception and the aura of its construction. my materials aim to amplify that memory while minimizing my carbon footprint, using up-cycled and environmentally friendly processes in a small-scale studio production setting. nature both inspires my colour palette with its inherent beauty and supplies it with an infinite variety of dyes extracted from flora.

Additional policies and FAQs
we love custom orders. we get down right excited about them. drop us a note.
we joyfully accept consignment and wholesale orders. again, drop us a note for a quote.
we guarantee that we made it by hand, that it will change you a little, you will change it more, and that love was put into it.

and most importantly, each product comes with a special gift and a tag containing important information like care and contents. remember to plant the seedpaper part of your tag (the one with the logo, not those all important care instructions). it's another gift to you and to the earth as well: to use paper that yields native wildflowers.
plant the paper in good soil 1/4" down, water as needed to keep soil damp, and watch as plants pop up and provide glorious color. recycled paper will naturally dissolve into the ground. flowers will naturally bring smiles.

we really enjoy dyeing with natural colors, and we like to think we're great at it. we've got every color in the rainbow, and our colours are richer than any chemical dye you can buy. if you desire anything we dye in another color we can do it, and how.
