About

Welcome to the Lazy Y Vintage!

Welcome to the Lazy Y Vintage Shop where you will find current decorating trends and many classics that are collected and admired as timeless. From the beginning of our journey (42 years now) we have always collected, decorated, and refinished the furniture in our home. Married young and broke, our first apartment was furnished from thrift shops and family cast offs that we repaired, refinished, and/or repurposed. Jim still uses an old wood crate from his Grandmother to store his record albums. Most of these first purchases are still with us. From a metal bed frame in our guest room to our entertainment unit in the living room; they continue to provide useful and beautiful additions to our home.

Grandma Ruby was always giving us lovely old vases, dishes, and a few chairs. Our bedroom set is from her attic. She loved to tell us the stories about each piece and taught me how to refinish furniture.

Jim and I love to be outside hiking, gardening, or just walk the neighborhood. We appreciate the good Earth and all its beauty. To do our share to protect the Earth, we believe in reduce, reuse, and recycle. Buying and using vintage items is one way to close the recycling loop that lessens the load on our landfills.

You have to appreciate the workmanship that has gone into the early manufacturing or the artistry in creating pieces that has made it through the years. We like it even more when it comes with a story; a bit of history. It is so satisfying to keep vintage and antique items moving through history; through our journey to your adventure.

Enjoy your time shopping at the Lazy Y Vintage. We enjoy the time and processes it takes to create it as we continue on this journey together called Life. Thanks for dropping by.

P.S. The shop’s banner is a bridge at the Town of Linn Community Nature Park in Lake Geneva, WI. It is a 160 acre nature park that was restored to oak savannas, tallgrass prairies, and pothole wetlands. In 2010, two of these bridges were installed over the stream and wet areas to make the trails and park accessible for all. I wrote grants and worked with the Town of Linn Park Committee.

Jim comes along for the fun of finding new pieces for the shop. He likes to joke with everyone that he is just there to carry things. Which does help a lot, but he is also there to make it fun and make everyone around him laugh.

Frequently asked questions
Very Good Vintage Condition

I use the term "very good vintage condition" for pieces that are in excellent condition. Yet please remember that these items have mostly been used before; so they will have a few imperfections. Anything that is obvious will be noted in the description and/or pictures.

Good Vintage Condition

When the description uses the term "good vintage" condition; it means that it does have some flaws (and should be noted in the description). Less than perfect, but still in good shape.

Refunds

We do offer refunds, but the item will have to be returned to us before the refund is completed. We do NOT pay for return shipping. Please, let us know if you have any issues, we will be glad to discuss them with you to determine an outcome.

Customer Service/Communication

We will return all messages within a 24 hour period, but we do strive to reply as quick as possible.

Breakage in Shipping

NOTE: Change in policy: The USPS has changed it claims requirement to having to bring in the box and broken piece to the local post office in order to file a claim on this insurance. We apologize for for this, as we know that it is not good service.

The following is the Lazy Y’s new return policy for pieces that arrive broken:
1. Please take pictures of the broken item and the box and packaging and send those to me in a message.
2. I will then file a claim for reimbursement and send you the claim number.
3. I will then ask you to take the broken piece and its packaging to your local post office for their review (remember to bring the claim number with you).
4. Notify me that this step was taken and I’ll issue a refund at that time.

What does vintage mean?

Vintage means an item is at least 20 years old or at the most 99 years old. Once it is 100 years old, you can call it an antique. Please be aware that you are purchasing a used item. We keep trying to improve our descriptions and pictures to point out chips or dents or other issues a piece may have.

Saying that, there may be small vintage wear that go unnoticed. I do go over the piece when I buy it, wash it, take its picture, write its description or weigh it. Yet still, sometimes I miss it. The right light will show scratches on dinner plates for example. One time, you could see a crack in a piece of pottery in the photograph that you could not see when looking at it.
