A little run down about my business - I create a lot of custom jewellery, small designer collections and a few years back I started a line of jewellery I call LeaFloria Jewellery Creations which is inspired by threatened and endangered plant species from around the globe. With each sale of this collection I hope to make a difference in plant conservation with the donation of $5.00 CAD from each piece to Botanic Gardens Conservation International bgci.org. Featured on this website are both the LeaFloria Collection and some of my designer collections.

"Conservation should not be accepted as meaning saving a particular plant or bird or scenic site . Rather, conservation is best thought of as a management of natural ecosystems in such a way that they benefit man not only now but in the future"

About

Was inspired to make a difference with my jewellery....

When I was in highschool I was lucky enough to squeeze into the last spot available in the silversmithing class. Yes my highschool had a silversmithing elective class! How cool right? I fell in love with making jewellery at the age of 17. Once I graduated highschool I carried on to Vancouver Community College where I enrolled in the two year Jewellery Art and Design program. One of my favourite aspects of the course was Gemmology - the study and science of gemstones. Upon graduating the jewellery program I continued on to take the two year CGA Professional Gemmology Course. I found a deep seated passion in gemstones and to my own surprise, I graduated at the top of my class with the 2nd highest examination mark in Canada. I landed my first job in the jewellery industry at 19 where I was a salesperson for a high end jeweller. Then I carried on to work for a rock and gem shop where I became part owner at the wee age of 21. I wanted to move away from retail and spend more time on the work bench so I got a job with a jewellery designer where for 6 years I helped her bring her designs to life. When it was time for a change and by serendipitous chance I started working for a new Designer jewellery a store as a salesperson/goldsmith. Over the last 5 years I have grown with this business and it has expanded. I now teach silversmithing classes at night and I love the new challenge. All the while, I continue to create my own collection of jewellery that you see here - LEAFLORIA!

When I first set out to making jewellery for a living, I was inspired to create a jewellery collection that was more than just something pretty - I wanted my jewellery to have a story! So I started my business LeaFloria Jewellery Creations that is based on threatened and endangered plant species from around the world. Annually, I tally up all the sales from the floral inspired pieces and donate $5.00 from each item to a botanic conservation agency in hopes to help with the conservation of all threatened and endangered plants.

A large part of my business is creating custom pieces for my clients. Extracting ideas from your customer's minds and making a piece that is exactly what they wanted is not only gratifying, it challenges me to think out of the box. I also find inspiration in many other things that spark new and unique jewellery items some of which I also have available in my etsy shop.
