About LeamanPottery

Sales 3,293
On Etsy since 2014
Video summary: Throwing an individual casserole. For Etsy, each item we make has to be the same dimensions. So, throwing requires measuring carefully for each piece. Even still, there are small variations in size and thickness of the walls.

Pottery Dream Come True

Throwing clay has been a passion of mine ever since the 70's when handmade pottery was a staple household item. Everyone used ceramic kitchenware & bakeware, and indoor plants were always in glazed ceramic pots as unique as the foliage they held. After seeing pots being thrown on a potters wheel, I was hooked! I started taking adult pottery classes wherever I could find them, and worked clay into my busy life whenever I could. Raising 4 children and working full time as a scientist took priority, but my love for pottery never dwindled. My opportunity finally arrived in my golden years of retirement. I was finally able to have the time to build a home studio and start creating pottery of all kinds. The next step was the business side of things. I'm lucky to have a husband who loves to be involved, and now he helps with the kiln firing and running of the business. It is a wonderful collaboration and gives us purpose and satisfaction in our 'old' age.
