About

Handmade Metaphysical and Occult Supplies

Ande was raised in an ad agency and grew up to be a commercial photographer. The travel fiascos that 9/11 brought caused her to reassess what she really wanted to be doing with her life, or at least not doing things that required any more tedious airport security checks.

She worked at a friend's new age shop for a while, and when the friend decided to become a full-time mom and close her store, Ande found herself missing the weirdness that running a new age store brings to one's life.

That same year, a wicked friend gave her a soapmaking book for her birthday and Ande was hooked. First she did farmer's markets, then psychic fairs, expanding her inventory into more and more metaphysical products until finally it just made sense to open a store of her own.

Once Upon A Silver Moon got its first physical location in January of 2002, quickly outgrew it, and moved into a larger place down the street.

In 2005 Ande saw the coming impact of the economic downturn and decided to step back a bit. She declined to renew her lease and instead returned to doing shows, markets, and developed a wholesale clientele. In 2008 she started selling on Etsy and in 2010 opened an ArtFire shop as well.

Ande became leader of the Metaphysical Merchants Team on Etsy in 2008, expanding that team to include ArtFire sellers, people with webstores, and physical stores as well.

Once Upon A Silver Moon opened a new physical location September 2012, again in Oklahoma City, just blocks away from the last location. With this increased responsibility came increased demands on her time. She stepped down as team captain in August 2012 but maintains an active role as the team's webmistress and technical advisor.

If you see something you loooooove and have to have, but the price is just a twitch more than you'd like to spend, make me a counter offer. All fair and reasonable offers will be considered.

I will also consider trading for tools, materials, cool stuff, and chocolate. I like swaps.

Accepted payment methods

Payment
I do not accept PayPal. Please do not ask me if you can use it.

Foreign transactions... questions... convo before buying.
Shipping
I will ship out of the US. Convo before buying so I can add your location to the shipping options. I don't automatically add them because rates change all the time.

We are happy to upgrade to priority or express mail, or to use UPS or FedEx for international tracking. Please enquire about insurance and delivery confirmation for any domestic (US) order. Thanks!

I usually include a few freebies as thank you gifts. Somteimes these are product samples and sometimes they are just little crafty things I've made that I'm tired of looking at. My shipping charges are set so that I can do this.
Refunds and Exchanges
A word on postal insurance.

While we take every pain to ensure your parcel is well-packed and that it arrives safely and securely, occasionally something happens that is beyond our control.

If the post office should eat your order and it was not insured, we cannot be held accountable for the damage.

However, we will refund HALF your purchase price because that is the sporting thing to do. We lose and you lose, and some schmuck in the post office gets a nice free piece of jewellery. We could all go on a rampage against the postal workers together but it probably wouldn't make us feel better.

Over the course of years, only one item of ours has ever gone astray, and it was a very inexpensive item that was easily replaced. The decision to insure or not rests solely with you.

You may enjoy upgrading to priority shipping, which comes with a free tracking number. We use the smallest flat rate mailers which are very sturdy boxes about the size of a video tape (remember video tapes?). That they have to scan the tracking number may help your parcel from becoming machine food, plus it will arrive sooner. But we make no guarantees regarding the unpredictable behavior of postal workers.

Shipping charges are non-refundable. If you are returning something, you can either meet us and bring it back (saving shipping), or pay the postage yourself. This is not meant to be unfriendly; I'm just an artist trying to eke out a few pennies. I already spent your money, you see... Besides that, I don't get it back from the postal clerks. That money is GONE, baby, gone forever.
Additional policies and FAQs
READINGS: I offer a money-back guarantee. If you think I suck, you don't have to pay for your reading. I offer this because, in all my years of readings, I have never been asked for a refund.

We regret we are not able to offer refunds or exchanges. However, if your product breaks or the plating on a silver-plated item wears out, we will gladly fix it for free.

Many of our items are short-run (depending on how many beads we bought) and may not be able to be replaced with identical beads, so please try to collect as many of them as possible. If we do not have identical beads we will replace them with similar beads that are the same or a greater value. We will be happy to provide options where possible.

Occasionally we suffer disappointments in terms of silver-plated clasps and other findings. Mostly we give any "iffy" metal beads a stringent test, such as wearing a test bead through the Oklahoma summer, while exercising, while swimming, and occasionally while working on the car. If the bead stands up to this we feel confident that it will provide long-term delight to our customers. However, we tend to run through clasps very quickly and one year we were quite embarrassed to find that one of our suppliers began cutting corners unbeknownst to the customers, and the "silver" plating was not what it had been in prior batches. The plating wore through to reveal copper beneath. While we love copper, we did not love being surprised. Should this happen and you would like a replacement for that part, we will be happy to switch them out.

If you love one of our items and would like the metals replaced with sterling silver or gold, we will be delighted to create that piece for you. Please convo for a quote. A nonrefundable deposit will be required for custom items.

If you have metal allergies and would like a piece with no exposed metal, please convo for options. In many cases we can bring you a satisfactory custom item.
