About

Celebrating life's little moments.

Leighwood Paperie started even before I realized it. When I was planning my wedding in 2015, I researched so many different invitation companies and options — ultimately, I decided, "I can do this," and set off on this adventure that reignited a passion that had been pushed aside for so long.

I grew up constantly feeling the need to be creative. As a teenager, I spent a lot of time on a computer and started to design websites, logos, banners, anything you could think of. I was a designer before I realized I was a designer. When it came time for college, I went into photography, but the passion wasn't the same. When the time came for me to decide between going to school or working full-time, I chose work. On the side, though, I continued to be creative. I took up a couple freelance projects here and there, started a blog, and always loved creating the graphics for it more than creating the blog posts.

So when I started designing my wedding stationery, that fire was back. I spent hours pouring over designs and started creating a whole library of tossed aside work. Once the wedding passed, I decided I was going to work on growing a small client base and do brand design on the side.

In February of 2016, I got laid off. My husband and I had just gotten married and we were planning for our honeymoon. Life was in a tailspin. I used the time to reflect on if I wanted to jump back into the retail management boat or if I wanted to *really* pursue this passion of designing. After a lot of apprehension, I went for it. Dove in with both feet. Within a month I had put together a couple designs and with the help of a very great friend who provided so much inspiration, opened up my Etsy storefront.

Since then I have been working on learning everything there is to know about running a business and growing myself as a designer. The journey hasn't always been easy, but pursuing a passion that had always been there (but tucked away), is extremely rewarding and the people that I get to help along the way is more gratifying than any dead end career path I was on before.

The future of Leighwood Paperie is bright. 2016 brings my first holiday collection and 2017 is only going to lead to bigger and better things as I become a better boss babe. I look forward to the journey and all of the amazing clients that I get to meet along the way.

Stay tuned!
