Announcement   I make every Lella Rae handbag as though it's the only one I will ever make. Each bag is carefully constructed using my very best effort.

I believe in using vintage materials whether they are discarded clothing, table linens, coverlets, or any beautiful, reusable item. I often rescue such articles at thrift stores, estate sales, etc. that, along with a piece of silk and a vintage pin, can be made into a one of a kind, wearable piece of art.

I believe in using my own patterns so that buyers of my pieces will not find them anywhere else.

I believe in working carefully and reworking if necessary to make a piece of art that is as unique as it is beautiful.

I believe that my customers should and do expect a well made product that will not fail and I expect my customers to be thrilled with their every purchase.

Every woman should own at least one item of wearable art. A piece that lets the world know she recognizes timelessness as well as her own beauty and worth.

If you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact me.

Thank you for stopping at my shop.

Beautiful workmanship!! I bought four all together, one for myself and three as gifts. The quality is high rate. Thank you for helping to make these gifts so special to what myself and my fellow spouses are doing at our current duty station. I highly recommend her products!

About

My Mother's Legacy

My mother taught me to sew when I was ten or eleven - a very long time ago! We sewed together on her 1950s black and gold Singer sewing machine which she gave me after I grew up.

Yes, I still sew on my mother's machine. Though she has been gone for several years, as I sew, I can feel her beside me, guiding my hands, my heart and my creativity. She is never far away.

When I started my business, I wanted to make something that would combine my passion for sewing, jewelry making and cross stitch embroidery. I wanted a product that was truly unique. Something that cannot be found anywhere else. So, I began to make purses with cross stitched designs, beaded applique, and even strands of beads and crystals that were one of a kind.

I know my mother would love the things I make, after all, she's been there right along, helping me work..

When I was a baby, my father called me Cinderella. My brother couldn't say that so he shortened it to Lella. As my middle name is Rae, Lella Rae Designs seemed the perfect name for my business.

All of these handbags were handmade by me in my smoke and pet free studio in West Seattle, Washington. Fine quality fabrics and hardware were used in their careful construction. Several layers of interfacings and padding have been used and seams have been reinforced.

All embroidered bags, unless otherwise noted, were carefully stitched by me.
