When I was 18 years old, I went to the Fashion Inst. of Technology to major in textile design. I worked in that industry for 16 years as a colorist, designer, sales person and assistant to an Italian designer in his small business. I knocked on doors with my portfolio, ran around the city with other artist's designs, lots of phone calls to stylists for appointments, and saw my art knocked off from companies that I had showed my designs to in magazines. The business part of it was brutal and challenging to any designer, but the creative part was always a joy to do!

Eventually I got tired of the low pay and got a job as an assistant to a top real estate team, putting my art on the shelf. Seeing some of the most fabulous apartments in Manhattan with 14' ceilings, killer Central Park West views, with large windows, beautiful structures and interior designs. I would bring contractors and designers after an apt. was rented or sold to start working on the new tenants or buyers home.

All of this stimulated me to get back into drawing and realizing how well many of my architectural drawings with patterns, could fit perfectly for scarves. I also loved drawing the landscapes of Northern Manhattan, where I live at Inwood Park, which is the last natural forest of NYC.

I was encouraged by friends to go on Ebay and Etsy, but eventually found the more creative side, here on Etsy. After 23 years, I find that I'm home again with my real passion as a designer and putting the subways that I traveled to work on everyday (and were sometimes a challenge waiting for and getting delayed on) as scarves and my home surroundings as beautiful landscapes to wear.

I'm with Jami King now, on her fabulous Etsy group to learn more on marketing and the business. Every time I list a new item, I get that tingling sensation to see it pop up on the screen and be able to share my small business and art with you! I hope you enjoy my designs and they give you a little bit of that tingling sensation of riding on the subway or being at Inwood Park too! Warmest regards, Len

I believe art is not limited to a wall. My drawings become living art wrapped around your body. I graduated from The Fashion Inst. at NYC in textile design. 30 years later, I'm sharing my passion for art with my geometric and landscape scarf designs.
