Love her work. Wanted this piece larger but she didn't have any in stock. Her jewelry line is gorgeous.

I love the swing of these, and the combo of copper and silver.

About

Frog Storm Designs

I have always loved to do something that was artistic. I drew when I was young and did crafts as an artistic outlet.

My mom sent me to have a summer painting class when I turned 16 with a well known painter from South Georgia. I was the only teenager in a room with women and two men who were all 50 or older. I loved it. All that talent and years of experience in one place. My absolute favorite was a lady who was in a wheelchair. I can't remember her name, but she did the most amazing impressionistic paintings. I would take breaks just so I could watch her paint! I can still see the picture of her family she was working on that summer. I learned so much that summer from them.

I graduated from high school and went on to college trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. I was still crafting. I had learned a basic chain, single chain and double chain from my step-grandmother and aunt. From there, I learned to read patterns and taught myself so much more. I was never satisfied with other people patterns. I preferred making my own. My sister did cross stitch and I crocheted. My father was funny. He used to tease us. "You can't make any money pulling string!" Well, I had a lot of designs and I felt like they were as good as some others I saw published.

I decided to submit some of my designs to a crochet publisher. From there, I had several of my designs published. I made money pulling string and declared that I was going to get by BA in art! I loved it beyond words. I got to go to school and learn so much about art. I loved jewelry making. I had always loved gemstones and jewelry design. I appreciated all of it and learned so much more in school.

After school, I spent the first year working for my dad in a cotton field and helping my sister get through her first pregnancy which was difficult. I did some craft shows with my jewelry, but I couldn't make a living doing it at the time. So I took a job as a paraprofessional in a local school. I really loved it, so I went back and took a year and a half to get my teaching certificate in art and went from there and got certified to teach elementary school. I get to use my art degree all the time while teaching. I added a masters later after I got married.

While I lived life....You know, got married, had two little boys, and worked...I couldn't get into my studio and work. My second little boy Luke just would not let me out of his sight for the first two years of his life. After I started to be able to do a little more, I worked with beads and wire just to be able to be creative with my hands. I got time to get my studio together and can take time pretty often to get to work on my art. I decided that Etsy would be a viable way to get my name out there in the world and allow people to see my jewelry.

Frog Storm Designs was born a long time ago during work for my craft shows. I am the frog. I earned the name in high school from a friend and it stuck. After a while, I made it mine and continued to use it in different areas of my life. The storm is an homage to my "daughter" that helped me get my art degree. A blue doberman by the name of Stormy. She was always there with me through college. I bounced ideas around to her, she was the subject of quite a few photos and drawings, and she was always my protection and companion. I thought "Frog Storm" was a play on words like the jewelry is my brain storm.

I lost her several years ago, but her legacy will live on. She was the doberman that earned her art degree with me and helped me be able to make it through art school. It is fitting that I continue to create my art and find homes for it with her name written above the pieces I lovingly create.

Please look through my shop and if you find a piece of jewelry that speaks to you that you love, adopt it so it finds its true home. I hope that you find a piece you love and can become a treasure you can pass on.

The new dog on the block. I just got her for the boys this summer (2012), but she has adopted me and follows me into the studio all the time. I have gotten her a little bed to lay in and she is happy as a clam.
