I have been a reader of the strawberry fields whatever blog for quite a while now and I was with these girls' writing style. The way they structure sentences is the way I want to live my life. The writing is honest, hazy, and completely unpretentious. I love when they write about imagining their favorite rock stars doing everyday things, it's adorable and relatable. These zines did not disappoint.

Let It Be Beautiful by Elizabeth Barker & Laura Jane Faulds

Liz and LJ met for the first time on Bleecker Street in New York City in December 2002, then ate french fries next door to the boutique where Madonna sells her Jimi Hendrix jacket in Desperately Seeking Susan. Five years later they became collaborators on nogoodforme.com and, in 2009, began working on Let It Be Beautiful (a book project based on retelling Beatles songs as stories or essays or story/essays). They have now published 12 of their Let It Be Beautiful songs as zines: A Hard Day's Night, Another Girl, Because, Birthday, The Inner Light, I Wanna Be Your Man, Like Dreamers Do, Long Tall Sally, Penny Lane, Savoy Truffle, Sexy Sadie, and While My Guitar Gently Weeps.

Along with their Let It Be Beautiful illustrator Jen May, Liz and LJ also run the music blog StrawberryFieldsWhatever.com. Its mission is to deliver thoughtful/rabblerousing writing on rock-and-roll music, most of it from a very long time ago.
