My fiance's favorite in our recipe card collection! :)
I can clearly remember my dad mailing me an article when I was a sophomore in college (around 2005) about a new website called Etsy. He said I should open up a shop to sell my crafts. I was currently majoring in Elementary Education and really loved my art classes. My dad knew how much I was into scrapbooking and kept encouraging me to try. Needless to say, I wish I had taken his advice and jumped on that bandwagon early on!!
It wasn't until 2010, when, after getting married and moving to a different state 11 hours away from home, did I break out of my shell to start a shop. At the same time, I started a crafting blog (it's still kickin') to link the two together. For two years, my husband's job moved us every 6 months to somewhere new. Our situation did not make it ideal for me to find a job, so instead I enjoyed blogging, crafting, and adding items to the shop.
Fast forward to 2014, and finally I am re-opening the shop under a new name. My husband got a new job that is keeping us here "permanently" for the time being. So, we purchased a house here in the beautiful lowcountry of South Carolina and are in the process of making it ours (check out the blog). We have seven chickens, a wonderful chocolate lab, and a baby GIRL on the way (Sept 2015)!!!
This shop came about because I have a love for finding treasures while hunting the many Goodwills, Thrift stores, Antique Malls, and other shops here in Charleston. My love for discovering great deals has led me to open the Thriftin Chicken. I hope to provide fun authentic vintage finds, a few handmade items of my own, and maybe even someday some prints and photographs.
