This Advent Calendar is just beautiful. It is a wonderful addition to our family Christmas decorations. This year for my 2 year old we are putting the letters of the alphabet into each day that can then be put into a puzzle. We will choose a letter each night and talk about it and put it in our puzzle. I can't wait to get the count down started. Thank you for such a beautiful calendar.

About

I have a confession.....

....I’m a fabric addict. There, I’ve said it. I’m an addict and I can’t get enough of the massive selection of fabrics available. I also hoard any fabric however small the scrap. I can’t bring myself to throw even the smallest bit away in just in case I find a use for it.....

I’ve always been creative and enjoyed making things. As a child I devoured any practical kit given to me and I did many tapestries and cross stitch pictures while growing up. I’ve always found (and still do) fabric shops fascinating - an Aladdin's cave of fabrics waiting to be discovered and turned into practical and decorative items.

I strongly believe every child should have something handmade with love from beautiful fabrics in their room; not just a bland, identikit nursery set from a store. I think more and more people agree with this philosophy and I love that the items I make on my sewing table at home end are ending up all over the world.

I’m qualified teacher (which seems to overflow into my choice of designs as many of them are educational!) and worked full time for a few years, during which I had very little time to craft. When I became pregnant with my first child my passion for fabric was reawakened by the wonderful possibilities of making her something for the nursery. I made my first alphabet wall hanging, some pretty bunting and an advent calendar (she was born in December!) I was hooked again and began making things for friends and family and Lilac Elephant was born.

I now combine teaching part time, looking after my girls and creating items at my sewing machine, working on expanding Lilac Elephant to become even more successful.
