I’m Denise: maker, small business owner, and part-time homeschooling mom of two kids.

Ever since I was a young girl, I enjoyed drawing, making, and crafting. In junior high, I took a Home Economics class where I learned to use a sewing machine, and discovered I was pretty good at it. Afterwards, my mom bought me a sewing machine and I worked on small projects occasionally. However, in my youth, I never imagined that I would become a small business owner and sell sewn goods. I studied Biology in college, and then went to school again years later for a second bachelors of science in Nursing.

As time passed, my desire to create and to sell my creations grew stronger. It took me about eight years (that’s right! 8 years! -- I was working as a nurse for a portion of that time, and also gave birth to my two kids during that time) of brainstorming, designing, planning, hoping, praying, putting it off, and many times doubting…but finally opened this shop in the winter of 2019.

That’s how Lille Folk Shop was born.

I love being able to give life to pieces of fabric by turning them into these charming little characters.

Even more rewarding is when I hear about how much a child (or adult 😊) who has been gifted with one of my dolls is enjoying it.

I feel blessed to be able to do what I love, and to be able to share them with folks who appreciate quality handcrafted products.
