About

Hi, I’m Torrie, girl behind LILLIAN•ADELE Feltworks. I create vintage-inspired, felt-and-sequin decorations for old-fashioned Christmases.

The story behind this shop stretches back through my ancestry to my great-grandmothers, Lillian and Adele. It’s after them that I named my shop, and it’s from them that I learned my craft.

I grew up on cold, Midwest Christmases. My mother, determined to give to me and my brother bright Christmases, turned our home into a kind of wonderland. She knit our heritage into traditions, and even though our home was only vaguely Lutheran, she turned our Christmases into something devotional. Devotion to our family, to the cold and to the closing year, to the heritages we’ve come from.

At the center of our Christmas decorations was this massive collection of felt, sequin and beads. Our stockings, Christmas tree skirt, ornaments, framed wall hangings, even these strange, kitschy light switch and doorknob covers. Hand stitched and a half a century old, our Christmases were marked by these heirlooms, passed down from both my maternal great-grandmothers.

It’s this style that I work, a way of preserving the work of my great-grandmothers’s hands and celebrating this quiet beauty we inherited from them.

I know my family’s not the only one with these types of decorations. After making tree skirts or stockings one off for friends and family, I’m opening a small Etsy shop to share my own Christmas creations. Tomorrow I’ll share what my own work looks like, but I seemed only right that I start with what came first. This is my small collections inherited from my great-grandmothers. The felt has yellowed, and the sequins faded, but they’re a small piece of my heritage.

Welcome to LILLIAN•ADELE feltworks! 🎄

Hi! I'm Torrie, girl behind the felt. I named this shop after my great-grandmothers, Lillian and Adele, who created the Christmas heirlooms that inspire the work I create today. When I sew, I watch true crime docs. We're all multitudes, right?
